It's possibly a bad rip of the game or your settings in the emulator are wrong.

Total Meltdown is a real bastard to get working properly with an emulator, whether its an ISO or the original disc. I've never gotten it to work completely right.

It doesn't show in ladders, that happens in EPSX, can't be helped.

You can use Virtual Game Station, but you may need a CD, be the one you used to play in the videogame or burned. The website says you can emulate it with Zdaemon and others, but this may not work.

On every emulator when I play a duke game It always has some type of glitch? It is a little annoying. 64:sprites seen through walls
PS1: missing tiles
SEGAS:Bullets sometimes dont hit enemy
SEGAG:Tiles missing

That's normal with emulators. If an game is popular, the emulator gets an fix, otherwise you may expect glitch. Especially when it comes to ported games, in other words, the source is not based in the console itself.

I never got it to work in any emulators either. Works perfectly on a PS2, though.

Quick question, do you have to mod your ps1 or ps2 to get burned ps1 games working?

A little, I can tell you how to do it if you want, it involves a disc swap trick.

OK, Seeing as you are using what would be considered a backup, that's all I am going to encourage you to play with this method, if playing pirates is something you would choose to do, I do not endorse such things and am not responsible... Nor am I going to be held responsible if this goes wrong.

That aside, You will have to open the PlayStation, this depends on what model you have, If it's a PS1 or slimline PS2, it is much easier.

What you need to do, after opening it is locate the tiny switches that the door to the CD Drive pushes down when it is shut, you need to jam these down so they can't lift up again, meaning that the system won't know if the door is open, it will always think it is shut - and thus the disc will always turn. Cardboard is good for jamming them down, tape it in place and the casing will hold the card on the switch when you put the console back together.

If you have the old PS2, it might be a bit harder, and they are a bit flimsy around there, I have never tried it on one of the old models, and am not entirely sure how well it would work, but supposedly ejecting the cd bay would not make the system aware that you had done so, because the switch still told the system it was closed.

Once you jammed the switches and stick it all back together (Hopefully without the handful of "spare" screws that I was left with) you need to figure out what sort of disc you are using, As you are using a PS1 game, you just need to get a real PS1 disc (can be any game, as long as it's an original disc, it doesn't matter) you need to put that disc in and wait for the PlayStation logo (The one on the black screen)

Now, timing is essential, when the laser moves towards the edge of the disc (Might have to guess when it does that by the noise) you have to pull that disc out while it is still spinning, now put your backup in (The Duke3D you just burned) and wait, if you did it right, your disc will be spinning with the door open, and the game should start.

You can do it with PS2 games as well, but you have to know whether it is a PS2 DVD or a PS2 CD ROM - Always make sure it's the same sort of disc.

Incidentally, this also avoids the regional lockout, so you can play imports. It might be worth noting that PS1 and PS2 discs have to be burned with certain settings, hopefully your image had a .cue file with it which will change those settings automatically - or a ReadMe.txt that tells you what they are, I can't remember what they are supposed to be. Also, burn the disc at the slowest speed you possibly can, the laser in the console is not as precise or strong as the on in your PC and can't read discs that were burned at high speeds properly.

That should be it, I have done this on my own PS2 so I can play imports and Backups (I never use originals for my rarer games, like Clock Tower 3) and it all works nicely, and doesn't require one of them mod-chips.

It's not very expensive if you can find a used copy, though. At least the european version isn't.
