The Duke Nukem: Zero Hour PC port has been VERY upgraded!

Great news for fans of the Duke Nukem: Zero Hour PC port; a version has been released that includes just about everything we were hoping for. Including the following features:

First-person camera with view models (includes new hand models for the weapons that you wield),
Mouse look, WASD movement (and yes, you can invert the mouse Y-axis if you like),
Number keys 1-9 for weapon switching,
Quick melee, quick grenades, pipebomb detonation hotkeys,
Crouch toggle,
Dead enemies stay in the world and can be gibbed again by explosives or gunfire,
Body parts, debris, and blood pools persist. A lot more gibs and gore overall,
More Duke one-liners and weapon sounds,
Autosave and quicksave,
HUD elements can be repositioned and rescaled,
Startup logos skipped,
Cheat toggles in the Mods menu,
Nearly everything is configurable.

It's still a work in progress, so there might be more changes and improvements (for example, you can't yet skip the game's un-skipabble cut-scenes, though at least they are short) and there maybe bugs, but at the moment it seems easily good enough to please us fans of the game.

Note that to invert the Y-axis for the mouse, you can find mouse pitch, yaw and invert in the Better Controls mod settings. ESC -> Mods -> Better Controls -> Configure. Note that you have to press 'M' on the keyboard to release the mouse while navigating the mod menu if already in gameplay.

Great news. Always been curious to see whether or not an EDuke/Duke 3D compatible port would be viable (since this seems like one step closer), since I believe all of it is Build I don't think much of the game would not be reproducible be it on the code or map side, especially thanks to modern EDuke features (TROR, fogpals, sloped sprites, simplified activation contraptions such as 'Mustardswitches'). I'm dead certain would be some hefty slice of work on the code side. Would be questionably legal but if Duke 64/PSX/Advance ports get to float around then one can dream. Would be so fun and fresh to map for, some of the textures and even a lookalike of the final boss being present in Alien Armageddon is one big reason why I love making levels for that mod. I'm glad no one so far seems dense enough a silly goose to go after those initiatives, and maybe generously assume that if such releases stick around it is because someone is business smart and realizes the perennity of the Duke Nukem franchise owes quite a bit to their availability to constantly renewed generations of players in practice, especially given the popularly poorly received attention it has notoriously been getting from its official management for some time. Also acts as a portal into more Build modding by extension and keeps the culture of that time period and importance of the games alive. Not worth exchanging for any uncertain but ephemeral quick buck.

Cool mods, though personally I'd likely play in third person still but with all the other mods enabled. Not that the first person view doesn't look well done, but that's just what I'm so used to with this game.

You can play through the game in third person, by press [P] to toggle first/third person mode. I've not tried it though, as I prefer first person view, so I don't know if it has any problems - this is all still a work in progress, so bugs or glitches might still be present. Fortunately, the author seems to be working on the project every day.
