Duke Nukem 3D 30th Anniversary - Duke4 Community Resolutions

Duke Nukem 3D shareware released on this day 30 years ago, with the full game on April 19th. 30 years of Duke Nukem 3D is not something I ever anticipated, but here we are alive to witness it.

To commemorate here on the Duke4 forum I thought I'd ask, what are your "Duke Years Resolutions" for 2026?

To start, I plan to be more active here on the forums again and encourage further engagement with fellow members.

What do you plan to achieve by this time next year when it comes to Duke and/or Duke4?

Wow 30 years of DN3D, who would have thought we would still play this game 30 years later? And new maps are also under construction! (Hint hint ck3d ;) ) Happy Birthday old fart! :D

I have no resolutions other than making decent SP maps and playing decent SP maps. :) Maps that have the good old Duke feeling, just like "Bacon Grease" I only found out recently. Fantastic map! <3 https://forums.duke4...post__p__373570

The city map I am currently working on needs more time, I won't make it til Valentine's Day, release will be March I think...

Same, I plan to do what I first did in 2019, go through the bug report forum and voidpoint.io issues page and fix things.

By end of April, the time will come.

35th anniversary for the King himself, too.

This year, I'm hoping to finally get to and through the backlog of maps that have piled up since 2023. Including Blast Radius which I left mid-game for a surgery. I'll have to start from scratch now that it's been several updates and new levels since.

I also want to go back and get really good at Dukes 1 and 2, and maybe finally play the rest of his console lineup after not touching them for so many years. I've played Advance and TTK (and I might go back to TTK since I only ever beat it on the lowest difficulty like 20 years ago), as well as 64 and TM if you want to count the PC ports (I don't I just consider them part of 3D).

I have something that is close to release and probably could have been already released as a version 1.0 for the anniversary, but I didn't really feel like pushing anything and don't have that much time right now, but I am quite certain it will come out this year - probably around April, which could be another nice "celebration" date.

Would be good to tackle one of the console Duke games as well - TTK, ZH or LOTB, as they are still in my backlog.

Work on Atomic Crisis more consistently. It will be difficult, I have a daughter on the way, but I'm still very passionate about making it. That and maybe record more impressions, it's been a while since I've done one so it'd be fun.

One of my resolutions was finishing my new map in early 2026, and I have done just that ^_^ Currently in beta test phase, so very close to release.

Other than that, I also have a backlog of maps that I still want to play. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to find the time, but now that my own map is finished it should be a bit easier :D
