Hi all,
While I found myself getting involved in BioMenace Remastered during this year, I was also working on a BM1 (DOS) level pack back in 2011-2012. It was named "Mangle is back from the dead" as of 2012.
Here's a link to the May 2012 release thread: https://pckf.com/viewtopic.php?t=2380
An earlier March 14 (Keen Day) 2011 snapshot release thread: https://pckf.com/viewtopic.php?t=1888
So, why create this new thread? Well, here and there, still with a low priority in general, I've thought about making a continuation.
Today, what you may find is an unfinished 2nd episode. I don't know if I will eventually add more levels.
Current download links:
Episode 1 as released in 2012 (requires BM1 freeware v1.1) - http://ny.duke4.net/...120501_0.99.zip
Unfinished episode 2 (includes a patched EXE) - https://ny.duke4.net...hot-20251004.7z
Unlike the BM1 level pack's 2011-2012 releases, this one takes advantage of K1n9_Duk3's patches, implementing mid-level saving and letting you skip the Apogee fanfare. Additionally, the player's initial spawn point is not marked as a checkpoint. Also included are K1n9_Duk3's fixes for music-related memory issues.
Most testing was conducted by Roobar. Other few people related to Rigel Gameworks were also aware of these efforts.
One more thing: This is not a source mod, albeit K1n9_Duk3's reconstructed sources were useful as a reference. I used K1n9_Duk3's Patching Utility in order to modify the executable, instead of requiring the use of a program like BM2PATCH.EXE. I thought that this could reduce confusion from mistakenly using the original executable as-is, something which is less relevant for Keen 4-6 as released in the 1990s. The source MBD2.PAT file is still present for reference.
