Miller: 3D Realms Working On Many New Projects, Rise Of The Triad Getting 'Reboot'  "By Gamasutra"

3D Realms is still going strong, even with the termination of Duke Nukem Forever. The developer still has several projects in the works -- and thanks to a new incarnation of Apogee software, a "reboot" of the Rise of the Triad franchise is also underway.

"Our future is fine," founder Scott Miller said in a recent in-depth feature interview with Gamasutra. "We have, I think at last count, 11 or 12 projects in the works."

Two of these upcoming projects are iPhone titles, but Miller also said there are some "major" titles in production, and that only the Duke Nukem Forever team had to be laid off.

So is the company still essentially Apogee Software under the hood? "There's actually another company now going by the name of Apogee," Miller explained. The name was licensed out about a year ago to a team including a former Apogee staffer.

"They're reviving the Apogee label, the Apogee name, and they're doing a Duke Nukem Trilogy of games on the DS and PSP," said Miller. "They're also going to reboot the Rise of the Triad franchise, plus they have some other original titles that they're going to be doing."

The news came as part of an in-depth Gamasutra feature interview with Miller, spanning the extensive history of his career.

I read through some of it.

Good to hear that a Duke movie is in pre-production.
I wonder if the Rise of the Triad reboot is just going to be ports/console games or a PC game. Would be pretty cool to see what they could do with the ROTT franchise after all this time.
