First i would like to oppologise for my behaviour earlier on this year. I was going through a very tough time at home, and the DNF news was the cherry on the cake i think.
Though i would like to stress that i know i am not the only one upset by the news and i realize that my attitude was out of order and unnecessary.
That aside i was googling some duke mods, and came across something called duke decay.
It got me thinking and i had an idea.
Now this is just an idea, nothink more, nothing less. And i would generaly like your views on this.
Good idea, Bad idea, Something along the lines. Whatever you think about the idea please comment.

So what is the idea? A weapons mod? If so, then I say forget about it.

why he must forget about it? :)
And I'm sure that on first screenshot is a chaingun instead of a RPG

M210 is correct.
Anyway, it's cute, I guess! Are those weapons actually in the game or just photoshopped in? Because if you call it an "idea" I guess you haven't really done any work yet?

i think it would be cool. the weapons atm look a little cartoony.
Still this will change with the polymer and all.
Id say give it a shot its fun.

I'm assuming that if this is happening the weapons are going to be 2D sprites? There's nothing really wrong with that I guess but when polymer comes out, some hi poly 3D models would look really awesome.

I agree but i am no moddler, and i doubt the hrp guys would want to take the hrp in that direction. Don't take that as gospel but i can't see them getting into it can you?

Look the normal Chaingun cannons behind that one.
Can't see it.
Anyway these weapons could be 2D or 3D, doesn't matter much as long as they manage to look good (but I doubt huge models like that would translate well to 2D sprites, but who knows?)
Problem is these weapons are taken out of trailers or other media and not directly out of a model viewer, so first you'll need to see about removing all kinds of shading from it before going any further.

Sangman, you can't see it because it isn't there. I don't know what Ilovefoxes thinks he can see because i used the mighty boot for both screenshots(That is why there is an ammo count on one and not the other, i forgot to put it in) And yes they are manipulated images, but as i said before it is just an idea nothing more.
I am doubting that it would be possible just a thought.

What would be so impossible about replacing weapons in Duke3D? It's been done a lot of times. If you managed to shop it in with it looking somewhat acceptable then surely you would be able to edit the ripper pic to make it look better.
It will take a ton of work to make a good-looking set of sprites (without any reload animations I take it but oh well!) out of that but it should be possible.

Well i have started work on this, and scaling the weapons down to the appropriate size loses a ton of detail, and looks crap. if you know a way around this then don't hesitate to share, but at the moment i can't figure it out. Oh and Sangman, the point about no reload animation, another reason this would be a stretch to look half decent.

Have you tried increasing DPI value? I don't know what software you use but you should have it in the same rescale menu.

Ask them. A number of them (including Myself and Parkar) were talking about re-making one of the casino levels as a Polymer-enhanced mini TC.
I was working on a DNF gold 1912 before the PSU on my gaming rig suffered a meltdown.
Sadly, the rig I borrowed for getting online has NO gaming potential at all (Celeron with 256MB RAM and old Intel card running XP SP3). So I'm doing other things at the minute.

I suppose anything can happen. Now if i had been asked if it was a good idea last year i would have said there was no point(My hopes for DNF were high last year)
But recent events would prove this to be a good idea, i was talking to NUKEMDAVE the other day about this funny enough.

Thanks. It may be a while as I have lot of other commitments going on at the moment. Its VERY frustrating as I was just getting a nice collection of next-gen game props together for the portfolio.
