KInda.I'm hoping to receive the maps by Friday, and then release the maps by Friday after that. You can still work on the map in the interim.

I check forums every hour day, so when I'll see the new message in my inbox you can expect the answer in a swift.

Anyway, I was just going to ask for a few days extension, wasn't sure if DNSKILL5 or ck3d would back me up on this... I've been getting pretty steady progress on the map this past week and have a clear vision of what to do next, but not sure if I'll manage until Friday, as there's some effects that are going to be quite a novelty and might require some extra testing/working around. So probably will just take until the end of "beta-testing" period, but I do hope someone will still try it out before releasing.

Similar to DNSKILL5, I'm also planning to add multiplayer to it, so also would appreciate some help with balancing it around.

Despite the heavy use of TROR, the map doesn't seem to get low framerates and works fine in Polymost (in Classic too, but a bit more laggy there). Here's 2 more screens showing the current state.

I dunno. I have no problem with it, but I don't think it would be fair for rest of the guys.

In any case, the plan is to release the pack on Aug 11th, so we all can play during the weekend. If it won't be finished or not tested properly until that date, well...I guess we'll push the release date further.

Let's see where we're going to be this Friday and decide then, how about that?



Also, Aleks...I'm sorry to say that, but in the "rules" post, I wrote that " You must use 1.3D tileset only - like all maps in BD 1-2. No Atomic stuff!". And your map use the 1.4 skybox. I don't know if other contestants follow every rule, but if they are, I think it's going to be fair to replace it with something else.

Hmmm the sky is tile #99, so it's in the 1.3D tileset, not sure where exactly it's used within the game. I'm not using any tiles beyond the tiles013.art, which is how I understood this rule (even though the assets from Derelict in particular would probably fit the theme very well). It's not like anyone is using 1.3D GRP now anyway, so I took it more symbolically than strict like that.

By now the sky is too much of an integral part of the map (also it's pretty much the only one that looks right with the fogpal), I guess I can be disqualified from the contest and just release the map as part of the episode if that would be fair then.

Uh oh no you shouldn't do that, I guess it's just a yellow card situation or smth, as long as you don't use any other textures it's ok. :o

Oh yeah I didn't even realize before but that is indeed an 1.4+ texture, it clearly isn't in the 1.3d tile set; the entirety of the tile set is peppered with stuff that was added for the Plutonium Pak, it doesn't just start at the end with the whole bunch of obviously new stuff, there is quite the number of 1.4+ exclusives scattered everywhere else so one can't just trust the list order, they have to know which texture is from which game. For instance 1.3d doesn't have the brown mud texture, or some of the wood.

I personally don't care for that rule to be honest (my map respects it but that's regardless of how others might not), sky looks way sick in your map and you pretty much based everything about your design around its composition/vibe so I don't see why you couldn't keep it, unless Sanek opposes.

So I have a bit of bad news. I was going to use the next two days to finish up my map, but unfortunately I have been sped through a hiring process and need to report to work at 1PM (EST) tomorrow, and will not be done with work until 5AM (EST) on Monday. Between these days I will not have enough time to spend on the map. If you can wait for my map by Tuesday (08/08), then I would appreciate the extension so I can take the necessary time to finish the map, which I would have enough time on Monday and Tuesday to finish it. Otherwise, you’ll have to omit my participation and I’ll have to release the map as a user map at a later time. I’m sorry for this inconvenience but this has been a very hectic past month or so for me and I’ve had very little free time, and I wasn’t expecting to have to report in for work so soon.

I've been quite actively working on my map and to be honest getting faster progress than ever, but yeah I gotta admit I'm still pretty far from finishing (I'm at 4369 walls right now, so the map is getting quite large...). I don't think you should worry about taking too long, I guess it is how it is with community projects and a delay of few days/weeks/months is mandatory.

Congrats on the new job BTW, and I am extremely curious to play your first map!

Yeah I was going to ask, are you seriously apologizing for finding a job, that's awesome, 'bad news' only on Duke4!

I probably could use a few extra days too since that seems to align with everyone else's schedule, my own these days is an absolute mess, so I wouldn't mind more comfortable Build time as opposed to trying to force it just before the deadline like I was considering doing (wouldn't be fun at all if the mind isn't there, might as well drop out instead realistically).

I'm a bit behind, there was no time I could spend on my map this week. I can finalize it and forward it to you sometime during the weekend Sanek, or if beating the deadline is an issue then it's OK to disqualify me and I most likely still will finish it and send it to you soon. Whatever you decide is fine with me, by no way the map is a heavy hitter and more like a quick curiosity, I've only spent a couple of hours on it and finalizing should be just about as quick. Heard Aleks dropped out!

Cool. I'm going to try and get progress on mine tonight or if not, tomorrow I should have the time. All I really have yet to add really is a small bunch of effects/triggers and then extra detail/scenery. Would already be out of the way if how easily corruptible the map turned out to be hadn't been discouraging, but with my set-up I should have seen it coming.

I may be able to salvage it after all! Changed the theme but the original inspiration (Jamestown) is still there as far as the overall design is concerned, but it is now a lunar mission.

Recieved a complete map from lllllllllllllll as of yesterday.

No map from either ck3D for DNSKILL5. I dunno but if we want to play the maps during the supposed free time, having all the maps by late friday or saturday will be nice.

I should be able to have the map to you by Friday or Saturday no problem. It’s near completion, just need to add in the items and fine tune it a bit. I’ll share a screenshot sometime later.

Final update: I am still working on the map on my time off of work. I should be able to bring a laptop with me tomorrow and get most of it done there and finish up Saturday. Otherwise, I will for sure have it to you Sunday night, as I have Monday and Tuesday off of work and will not need to worry about my sleep schedule. I will post a screenshot when I get home today to show I’m being serious that something is close to completion. I’m hoping to have it done by tomorrow night but it will be no later than what I’ve described. The map is done geometry wise, just need to add in the effects and whatnot, so some testing, etc.

I'm on the same program too, this week really has been wild and I was planning on finalizing my map today but tons of wack stuff got in the way, should be free this weekend as soon as tomorrow afternoon/night however so should still be able to submit my map either then or on Sunday tops, counting on no more surprises coming up. I've been looking forward to mapping time since the beginning of the week, going to be my weekend reprieve, you bet I hope I can catch it.

Here's a screenshot that I hope shows that I am truly working on it and will be done soon. I will be working on the map tomorrow and try to have it to you by Sunday at the latest. I do have Monday and Tuesday off of work, and want to be finished before I go back in to work Wednesday. So I will have it to you ASAP, with the goal for tomorrow or Sunday to send it to you, but no later than Monday really worst case since I can crunch the last minute stuff on Sunday.
