Shouldn't this be Impressions Games, not Impression Games?

I've never really enjoyed the city-building games, although I tried Caesar II, Caesar III, Pharaoh and Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. Out of these, I only managed to properly get around the game in the latter, thanks to an in-depth tutorial.

Lords of the Realm looked kind of interesting but again, gameplay is oddly limited in some aspects. I mean, you're supposed to be ruling counties in High Middle Ages England, but the economic activities you oversee are only basic resource gathering, farming and metalworking, with an occasional visit from a travelling merchant. No cities, no intricate trade or crafts, no church and no politics aside from raising an army and invading a neighbour. Granted I've not played either the first or the second game for very long, and might have missed something, but this was really a bit below my expectations honestly.

I always found Lords of Magic to be the best of their games. It's more of a traditional fantasy strategy game in gameplay, but in story and atmosphere it's unique. There are 8 factions/faiths, and depending on which one you pick, you're either going after Death or the other 7 faiths, with Death having to be beaten first to be unlocked. The Death faction is generally OP compared to the other faiths, so this isn't an easy task, although I found that with the right artifacts the Fire faith's warrior lord was basically invulnerable. The expansion added some RPG-like quest maps along with a base game scenario editor. There's a very nice Arthurian scenario which remains one of the best, if not the best depiction of the setting in video games. Pretty neat, but I always found it a bit disappointing there wasn't the ability to create your own quest maps.

DotEmu published 3 months ago a remake/remaster of Pharaoh/queen of the nile named "Pharaoh A New Era" developped by a french studio of 6 peoples named Triskell who are fan of the original city-building games of Impressions Games and know their inner working
the only issue is that the game have been released somewhat broken and still is at some extend despite having received some patch fixing a lost of the issues, some of these issues tend to make some missions impossible to finish without cheating (especially if you made a mistake that cannot be fixed like having failed to protect a town providing essential ressources you can't get otherwise)

RTS games fan bases are a delicate subject, known for being pretty plaintive and sink a game reputation for little specific details that often does not really affects the gameplay or the capacity to overcome a level.

In truth the biggest controversy about Pharaoh A New Era was the absence of the mini-map (like the original game gives more fair situations to the player with that!), resolved quite after with a patch. But I'm afraid that was enough to bring it down, because you don't hear much about it. Just look at the YT visualization numbers, many are even 0. Maybe is just because is a niche argument, but why Command&Conquer Remastered bombed much more then? Also true that C&C is more famous in general. Wonder if, despite that, we'll ever see a new edition of Emperor and Zeus Master of Olympus.

Talking of CaesarIII (why no one ever talk about Caesar I, II and IV?) it can't be really well played without Augustus, given all the objective quality of life improvement he gives. But there always Julius for anyone want to play the full frustrating vanilla experience.

We will certainly see new editions of Zeus Master of Olympus / Poseidon Master of Atlantis and Emperor, but DotEmu is the publisher and Triskell Interactive are around half a dozen peoples and they are still working on fixing Pharaoh A New Era so it could take some time...

Please remind me... the houses of Pharaoh that can get up to 3X3 and 4X4 if there is enough space, is it specific to the game or common with Caesar 3, Zeus and Emperor ?
