Slaughter Maps Needed

I’m looking for some good quality custom slaughter maps that use original Duke 3D atomic edition resources. Any tips?

"Lost World" is a good start. https://msdn.duke4.n...otlostworld.php

There's the aptly-titled "Slaughterfest," and its follow-up "Death Drive" though there might be points that stretch the definition some. A lot of Mister Sinister's works are very high in difficulty, not always slaughter but usually borderline at least. You may be interested in the "Bad Weekend" episode as well, particularly the "very" bad weekend.

You have a remake of one of Doom 2's most infamous custom maps.

"Hostile Terrian" is another good one; it doesn't start off as slaughter, but it spikes to that degree once you hit the final battle.

Then there's the laughably absurd Duke's Nightmare series, though I can only find the first one: http://www.scent-88....t/dukenight.php

I've heard of a second but can't track it down.

I also strongly recommend this mod: https://www.moddb.co...tal-mode-atomic which turns all vanilla maps into slaughtermaps, and is somehow better than it has any right to be.

Thank u so much. I’m actually using the fatal atomic maps already in my mod and was looking for some custom slaughter maps to perhaps create an extra episode. Your suggestions should help a lot.

Ninety-Six's recommendations are all great, wanted to highlight that I absolutely loved Slaughterfest and Death Drive the first time I played them. Lost World also is great albeit the author, Dukebot, ran out of time and in my opinion really rushed the ending, which could have been made a lot more epic (during beta testing I kept recommending he should have the purple lava in the central pit raise, and some of the existing cliffs collapse, to enhance the boss fight and make sure the enemy never fell down and got stuck; would have only taken a few extra effectors, whole structure a.k.a. 99.9% of the work already was in place but alas he never came through with that). It's got some pretty fantastic moments for sure though.

Bad Weekend was a nice proof of concept and take on the episode format (reminds me of Duke Hard a bit with the swiftness), rough around the edges though. I always really liked what I saw of Mister Sinister in general and always kind of wished they released more stuff (which is hypocritical for me to say as I never got to properly finish some of their existing releases).

A far cry from a slaughter map IIRC (off memory it doesn't have huge enemy count, at least not crazy huge, the monsters come in big waves but are easily dealt with), but if you're looking for over-the-top Build experience altogether I'd recommend checking out Demolition by Devastator (runs its own .con files though; upon further inspection of a YouTube playthrough of the map, I'm not sure how much their omission would affect gameplay, the antimatter gun might be the biggest difference as it seems to be meant to erase hordes of Liztroops that otherwise would take a bit to kill but the rest of the changes seems to be mostly cosmetic).

If it's for personal use, it's also one of the easiest things to do in Mapster to open your favorite-looking levels and then just add a bunch of sprites for enemies and items in there, wherever it is you want them.

Believe it or not I actually did heavily consider if I should mention Demolition or not. It's a personal favorite map of mine, even if it is absolute chaos as far as balance goes (with or without the con files). Being able to blow up literally everything in the map is rad as hell.

In the end, I decided I didn't think it really counted as slaughter, though for anyone who wants to play Duke's Nightmare, I would recommend doing so with Demolition's con changes just because it feels a bit more doable.

Thanks for more feedback guys. I’ll definitely be looking into these maps. No sure if I’ll put together an extra campaign for the first release though since I’m trying to get the mod out sometimes this month or early next month. But another campaign sounds like something that’ll get added eventually. Thanks again.

Almost every release from Mister Sinister would qualify. Sludge Plunge is what instantly comes to mind.

Try Bad Weekend (scent) or Bad Weekend (dukeworld)

I'll also add Ruinas made by Daniel Ferrer Gallegos.

Ruinas is by the same author as Lost World, Dukebot (Daniel's alias), and I had no idea it existed, thanks for the heads up. Only earlier map of his I ever knew about till now was Europe (https://www.arrovfnu...ferrer-gallegos), from 2009, but he did release quite a few levels around 2006 including a 'Farenheit 2' [sic] which looks interesting (https://www.arrovfnu...ferrer-gallegos), all on Arrovfnukem.com, I have no idea how slaughtery those are, though. I do think I remember him describe Europe as a slaughter map to me before, but he was saying he didn't like that one anymore. Probably just an author-seeing-own-flaws thing.

The Ruinas .txt file also mentions two user maps of his that do not appear to be online (at least on Arrovfnukem): Duclobalien and Defcity, probably very early works. Dukebot I imagine should be easy to get in touch with to this day if those ever happen to be of interest to anyone.

Unfortunately some files are splitted here and there, as example is possible to find "E1L9" and "E1L10", no way to find "E1L11", plus for some reason lately Googling and search them became even more complex.

Sometimes i think i read about Defcity, never heard about Duclobalien indeed, there is someone that ask about it: warosu.org and the answer link to a Waybackmachine but there is nothing downloadable Posted Image.

Ok so I'm looking for another kind of map and I didn't want to start a whole new thread, so I'll just ask here. I'm looking into adding a motorcycle vehicle to my mod and I was wondering if there were any good maps that could be edited to accommodate this type of vehicle? I'm looking for a map that would allow for some bike riding and a little on foot play. I've found a very nice map that would work out pretty well, but I have not been able to get a hold of its developer anywhere. The map is called The Long Road, and it's made by the great Merlijn but he has not been active here or at ModDB for months. Help to get a hold of him or tips on some nice maps would be much appreciated.

I think you'd be better off with QRed instead. It was a remake/reinterpretation of the original (not to be confused with the other, official remake "Poisoned Lands") that added a lot more roadways and distance between the buildings. IIRC it was made by quakis, who is still around I believe.

Oh that’s awesome. Thanks for that. I’ll check it out and try and get a hold of the author.

Hi there, I'm indeed not very active at the moment but I still lurk here from time to time :)
Of course you have permission to use The Long Road, but Ninety-six makes a good point about Q-Red. Another map with a lot of long roads is Clear the Coast (from me and my brother).

Hey thanks for the clarification and permission. I really like your mapping skills and thanks for the heads up on the other maps. Appreciate the help guys. I’ll wait on the QRed dev to respond to me. And maybe clear the coast could make a nice addition too.
