Anti-Gearbox DNF 2011 Console Renabler Patch is back!  "Always bet on Duke!"

Pretty much everything DNF related.

The options are pretty self explanatory, there is now a directory called tools with some goodies, not everything is setup to go in there, so investigate.

Please don't delete the Shader files unless you know what you are doing although it will prompt you each time you run the installer.

Remember most of these mods break multiplayer and its not certain if even the shadermods will get you vac banned if you try to use them with the offical version.

If you uninstall this mod it will delete required files, to get back to the current steam release run this again and choose Reinstall Steam files.

Two Versions Included, a Full and a Lite version. The Full has almost all dnf mods its just an update to my installer that was deleted sometime after 2014. The light is just the console enabler without other mods. Be sure to check out the <gamedir>\tools\debug directory for dumped cmds to poke around with.

Since you took a deep dive into it I'm curious - in your personal opinion why did they go to such lengths to disable the console and destroyed any moddability of the DNF2011?

2K Games was the publisher. 2K and it's parent company Take-2 detest modders, dev consoles, etc. That's the reason. They also blocked the official release of DNF pre-release materials. The little Gearbox were able to release with the game they fought for. In Randy's defense, I don't doubt one bit that he wanted to release pre-release materials, but Gearbox doesn't own DNF completely. They have to do what 2K says.

Right that was early on. But afterwards? It seems that they intentionally kept breaking it on and on.

What is the business logic behind blocking the modding community?

To install it you may need to turn off the antivirus cause windows 10/11 is very aggressive against this for some reason.

BTW for that particular file it says this is what it does:

What Trojan:Win32/Occamy.C30 virus can do?



  • The binary likely contains encrypted or compressed data.
  • Anomalous binary characteristics

Game crashes for me on start - I synced the game files with Steam (to check that the files are not corrupt), turned steam off, installed the latest 1.1e version with everything enabled and "DNF Console Downgrade Patch (breaks multiplayer &DLC, no steam) + Backported ticked:

Don't check the linux fix unless you are using linux, i really should make a better note of that.

How am I supposed to use this? I chose the 2009 Duke model and shader mod during installation but the game looks exactly the same.

Pro tip #1:
Do NOT use editor from Double Commander (I guess few people will), use integrated Windows Notepad to edit the files. DoubleCMD editor gives you gibberish.

Duke 2009 requires seperaty running xdelta on the game files, I could probably sometime set my installer to do that because it edits a file that is quite large.

How to install:
First, extract all the files to a folder of your choosing then
download xdelta ui (you can find it on romhacking.net) and apply the 2 patches.
Skelmeshespatch must be applied to meshes.dat (found in DNF's SkinMeshes folder)
Staticmeshespatch must be applied to staticmeshes.dat (found in DNF's StaticMeshes folder)

Then, download texmod and select in package mode the 2009 Duke Texture package tpf file 
(otherwise Duke will look like shit, even worse than being Douche NotCum)
then click on the select process to run, pick DNF's exe (which you can find on the game's System folder) and run
it with this package added in.

As far a linux goes the game wouldn't launch in linux in 2013-2014 without a patch, wine/lutris may have fixed the need for that, but i kept it there as part of this mod collection console downgrader.

You may have to launch the included flawless widescreen in Tools, and do the following. Note the show log only appears in the game not in the menu anymore.

To run texmod, you'll need to right click the texmod.exe and run as adminstrator. Then set your game path, and open the tpf files in tools/texmod/textures for the ones you want. You will possibly need to allow it through DEP (Data Execution Prevention), screenshots included:
