Does anyone know if there was ever an official full release of the Build Engine version of Powerslave? Wikipedia says it was released in North America on December 31st, 1996 but I can't find when it was released in Europe or if that's actually the official date of release to begin with
I know that's a very trivial question to ask
BTW the build engine version I find to be the superior version of Powerslave. I'm surprised more fans of the build engine haven't found out about this under rated classic, the console versions were super bland and completely different to this version of Powerslave. I recently found it on Steam

I believe that the European version has date stamps from 1997. At least, the demo version IIRC.
Here's an archived copy of the German publisher BMG Interactive, it says that the Windows 95 version is "available from May", implying May 1997:

Ah Thanks! Ok so it came out in North America first. Was the full release in North America September or December 1996 then? I saw Build dates for those months but I can't tell when they actually released the game

I have to agree. I like Build Engine Powerslave better than proto metroidvania fps Powerslave.

The Playmates Interactive Entertainment website says "Coming December!" at the bottom of the page:

There's also the news section which says:
Quote
November 25, 1996
Powerslave is only one month away! Do you have your demo yet? Check it out on this site!

Ok so the Build version was commercially released Christmas of 1996. Great Job Detective Fibble!

I am surprised NightDive didn't make the build version available too
