I think that's IDAY01.MAP by DoTTorX.
The link on the MSDN page didn't work for me, but the Dukeworld archive has the map so I got it there instead.
Can we have a "the link on the page must work otherwise it doesn't count as being on MSDN or whatever" rule?

The link would work if the first letter will be in capital.

So that one's just a typo on Mikko's end, and not a dead link (though even with those, you might be able to change the directory from fileplanet to duke4).

Yep! That's the map!

What if we had a rule where if the posted link doesn't work on MSDN, we specify that if we're giving that as a clue?

Example:
"Map is a hot map on MSDN but the current link doesn't work, though it can be found elsewhere."

Or something like that.

I'd add that you specify the elsewhere, like Dukeworld or CGS, but still keeping MSDN our central focus.

If it is Dukeworld, would also probably be worth specifying if it's in classic or 2001-current. That might seem like it's giving something away, but having browsed Dukeworld a lot these past few days, there are definitely some old maps in the current section (probably because they were added later but nonetheless).

Probably a self-answered question but, just to be sure >> What about maps found with NightFright's add-on Compilation ?

I guess I might as well post an image sooner rather than later...

This is from an MSDN hot map.

I know from AMC, therefore instantly recognized it ^^

Correct. It is indeed Descent into Hades.
(What happened to Chris Allcock anyway? Did he just drop off the face of the Duke community like so many other mappers?)

Interesting how Descent into Hades still holds up. Lots of maps lost their magic during the years, but these polished oldschool designed levels without using full scale of colours and details still look good.

Don't feel too bad. The Dream just so happens to be one of my favorite mods of all time.

I have a feeling this one won't be too difficult.

Die Scrapper by NuWrench.

I know it from Attrition ^^
Actually, those maps I know them from mods but it's only now that I know their authors ^^;

Not sure if it would be even possible with most of the shots, unless they're taken straight from MSDN or something. After all, it's always pretty much the same set of textures and it's not like there's 100s of shots from every map out there.

Personally, I only use my memory, and I'm pretty sure that's what most people do >_>

When you've played a mod/map more than once because you really like it, you instantly recognize it.

For Die Scrapper, I played it multiple times with Attrition, and when I saw the screen, it made me think of it right away, though I doubled check in-game quickly, and then I looked in the files to find the author's name.

Also, I would argue that, the maps we found very quickly, for the most part, were because the screen showed an actual landmark that's quite recognizable. (hence why my shots didn't last long T_T)

BTW, do we really have to give the author's name in order to validate our answer ?

Yeah, I'd limit this to SP maps as well. There's still plenty to choose from anyway, and considering how DM is basically abandoned or played on original maps, there's no point to include them.

No no, that's not a DM map.

I agree there's no point submitting DM maps >_>

Should I give a clue ?
0

#120

Okay, since nobody ever answers questions on these forums I'll give a clue.

Spoiler

If it's not enough, I'll post another screen with a different angle.
