Point & Click Adventure Shelf  "Because I refuse to call it a corner"

#31

"Space Quest V: The Next Mutation" is the only of the Space Quest saga, along with the Space Quest I VGA, to not have an official talkie edition made by Sierra. The fantastic work of voice synthetization by cdb-boop fills the gap. Technically you'll need v.1.04 of the game already included with collector's editions.

At the moment it really works only if executed trough latest DOSBOX, DOSBOX-X or the command prompt which is closer to genuine DOS. On Scummvm gives problems (detected but not recognized version in first place), but if they added support for that cool spiffythedog's unofficial patch for Space Quest I VGA and for NRS/Sun Software patches, we may see the full support of SQ5 dub mod soon.

Check out also this more "homemade" King's Quest 4 Talkie&VGA edition.

Holy crap. The SQ5 narrator voice sounds just like the real deal. The way characters say their lines seems also quite compelling. Might turn the entire game into a whole new experience.

I was told about "Tien Adventures" on the DREAMM discord. It's the dutch release of a compilation otherwise released in Germany. The games are in English, but some of the versions of it are pretty weird. The games are on two CDs.

The first CD has
Day of the Tentacle, which is just the regular talkie version
Maniac Mansion, which is the enhanced version with copy protection intact
Zak McKracken, which is the chunky version with copy protection intact
LOOM, which is the 16 color version with copy protection intact
Secret of Monkey Island, also the 16 color version with copy protection intact
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, 256 color version which never had any copy protection
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, which is the floppy version, with copy protection intact
Monkey Island 2, which also has copy protection intact
and finally Indiana Jones Desktop Adventures

It's really strange that they went with the older versions of Zak and Monkey Island 1 (the German box set has the enhanced Zak and VGA MI1), and with copy protected version of LOOM, when that was released without it on the American Classic Adventures box set.

The second disc is just Sam & Max Hit the Road (I've not looked further into that one, given it is on its own disc I assume it's the regular talkie version)
