Mild correction: ADG06 was set in Puerto Madero. It's the sequel that was meant to be set in Rio.

There was supposed to be a sequel?

Also I thought it was set in Buenos Aires.

Puerto Madero is a district in Buenos Aires. Should've been more specific...

And yes, Alejandro shared a pic of his next map here in the forums some time ago; which showed a neat recreation of Rio's favelas. Don't know what happened with that map though.

Having finished it today, I can absolutely confirm that Downtown Journey is a Duke Hard situation where most of the entire episode counts.

Thanks for the correction, I guess I got the 2 maps mixed up. It's a shame the sequel wasn't finished/released, that screenshot of the favelas looked really good (and also unique for Duke).

For those who, just like me, had missed it the first time around, I just found it on this page: https://forums.duke4.../page__st__7770

It's looking really cool indeed, I also always wanted to make a Rio map since my last visit there although not all based on the favelas either (I would also have some specific areas of the city in mind, in fact), so if I ever make it I hope it doesn't end up too similar. I'm pretty fascinated by the mountains and Christ here on Ale's take, they really do look like a skybox with the coherence of that blue hue and then Ale goes on to say he isn't using new textures, honestly it took a second for me to register that everything actually was sector-based and when it did hit me felt like, are you shitting me? If there is a trick, then it's definitely convincing. Definitely looking forward to that map whenever it comes out, from the looks of it it might be an instant favorite of mine out of all of Ale's maps.

I have yet to play it, but I just remembered about this map, The Blue Planet by Sewer Hrehorowicz: https://msdn.duke4.net/hotses1.php not sure if a planet qualifies as a central theme (would have to see the execution to be able to judge, my naive guess is no though), but the texturing looks interesting for sure in how it directly gives the level its identity.

I'm honestly not sure either, but I've been thinking of making a dedicated thread to document maps and mods depicting alien planets, too. Probably without the vanilla restriction since they are far less common.
