Just started a new thread for my weapons pack & further updates

anyone is free to use this stuf for their mods / hrp etc etc.

What is it?

a customizable set of new look textures for guns, projectiles & monsters with gloved & ungloved versions for the HRP



MAIN PACK updated 15/07/09


- New Look Aliens & DP Laser for HUD & Pickup
- New Look on Shrinker / Expander & shrinker pickup
- New Shrinker / Freezer / Expander / Octabrain Projectiles
- Blackened Chaingun with a glowing green screen & proper glowmaps
- New Pistol & Chaingun shotspark


OPTIONS


- Midas Touch - Gold or Silver Pistol Pack for gloved or ungloved version with pickups.
- Original Pistol look with Glove


UPDATED


- New Class Warfare pack, containing soldier skins for dukeplus dukebots
DOWNLOAD CLASS WARFARE

- Updated Main pack with new liztroop skin, shrinker pickup, midas pack & normal pistol shotspark update

- New pistol shot spark update pack, Contains

Normal Gloved Pistol & daniels262b gold pistol with new shotspark
Original ungloved Pistol updated with new shotspark

Normal Pistol Update Pack

- New Midas Touch pack with redone gold & silver pistol with additional DNF hazard line details on scope, hexagon patched grips, imrpoved shotpark, with pickup textures. Gloved and ungloved versions.

- Added New Alien Textures one for each, red blue and green, red & blue both have individual wrist controls & holding the new laser pistol
- New Glowing Octabrain Projectile (untill its officially apart of the HRP)
- New detail & firing glows to devastator & freezer (also changed them to PNG and changed firstperson.def to suit)

I know that the mp5 muzzleflash is good, because I've seen it in game. I don't know about the rest, but I'll bet you are just basing your opinion on the pistols pic.

yeh i know some people might not agree with some stuff, thats why that stuff is put on the side

i put up a preview for most effects as i see them, but thats with polymer

speaking of polymer are you going to remove some of the glow effects when it comes out? I mean when they implement lighting showing on the hud weapons. Sorry if that's a bit obvious, I'm a bit over hyped about polymer at the moment.

Polymer wishlist: Global illumination, SSAO, Bloom, reflective surfaces, adjustable specular (wetness), volumetric lighting.

they are all very customizable files, i can chop and change alot, partly why iam doing this, waiting for polymer to settle first before i get too heavy into mapping at the moment in case i have to re-do alot of stuff, fun learning this stuff, ive never done any texture work before.

np supergoofy, thanks for keeping a tab on all this stuff

if anyone wants any help with their mods ill try help, i think after this exercise i mainly specialise in

transparency & projectile enhancement
small details & adding them consistantly over multiple frames

so feel free to ask if you need help.

Looks robotronic. Not bad. Is there any way you could get the laser light removed? I think it'd look really good then.

The more techy look of the liztroop pistol is kind of cool. The problem is, it should look like the gun they are holding, and you can see from the original liztroop art and the model that it doesn't look like that.

right, but also the original DP laser pistol doesn't look like a liztroop laser pistol: If you zoom a liztroop weapon you can notice is a totally different model texture and model.

Think it this way:
Lets say that from start Duke has his own and unique laser pistol already equipped, but it is out of power and needs recharge. Thus he takes the power cells of the alien lazer pistols to charge it. How's that?

Yes indeed, but I don't know how to model or skin, so I took the HRP pistol and clumsily modified the skin to make it look sort of like the liztroop gun. That was the best I could do.

Ideally, I would have a model that actually looks like the liztroop weapon (or something that looks sort of like it but cooler). In my opinion the liztroop model needs to be redone for the HRP anyway. Perhaps when that happens whoever is doing it can make the DP laser gun based on the one the new liztroop is holding.

tiny bit more work and it will be good enough, should easily be able to do it to the pickup aswell

But I don't want to include HRP resources with DP, I want them to be separate. I have no problem including models that are not in the HRP, but I want to avoid including models that replace HRP contents. DP is, and will remain 8-bit compatible. I don't want a modeled liztroop appearing when someone plays DP without the HRP. Another reason is that the HRP model may get replaced in the future, and then the one from DP would have to be removed or updated (similar to what happened with the DP fire recently, which I don't want to repeat).

So if you think you can improve the liztroop model and/or skin, then great, but do it for the HRP, not Duke Plus, please.

Yeah, the DanM octobrain projectile and the new flares for example can be included in HRP update.

thats what i want to happen to parts of this pack, i can really knock the size down

yeh ill do a bit of an alien mod, i can copy this effect over to other models, & say give the red one some wrist controls for his teleporter

going for a darker dirty look, bit more like original.

Done, i think. i will leave it as beta for now tho

3 New Alien Skins for blue red and green alien, more detail on the body suit with each holding the new laser pistol design
The medic and commander aliens have individual wrist utilitys now aswell, also contains the new skin for the DP laser.
