I look forward to seeing what a DN3D remake designed by Borat would look like as I'm sure all of us would, so good luck to you comrade.

Some people in Discord, directed me over to this thread. I have the initial bits of Polymer, for geometry rasterization only, converted over to DukeSharp so it runs in Unity. This means, when the rest of the bits are hooked up, you can use the full Unity pipeline in Duke3D. Everything from Unity lighting, materials, FBX skeletal animation, etc. Polymer in DukeSharp is only for geometry rasterization, everything is will use standard Unity rendering. DukeSharp is my full C# conversion of the GPL Duke Nukem 3D code.

People are already building stuff on this scale in user maps for Duke 3D I think. It's actually really funny you posted this picture in particular because it's the exact same set-up I've built a few months back in one of the maps for my WIP Duke 3D project, with a bit less detail and depth but comparable composition almost down to the very texture set, as I modeled it after a different, but similar real-life theater. That being said, the original Hollywood Holocaust probably works better due to how shit the enemy AI can be in the game, especially around sprite floors and objects. Please don't hesitate to post more photos of locations you would like to see in Duke when you get the chance (I think there's even an 'Inspirations for mappers' thread somewhere), I can kind of get down with your taste in places and atmosphere, wouldn't mind seeing more.

Also to my knowledge porno theaters were never of traditional theater size. I only know of them through shady places and films like taxi driver.

AFAIK weren't porno theaters even when they were popular, smaller than vintage and grind house ones?

The general idea for "porno palaces"is that an old, grand cinema, that used to be a "proper" movie house, had fallen on hard times. The mall down the road opened with a multiplex and now they are struggling to pay taxes. All the staff have been layed off. The Odeon on third Street is struggling playing art house films. So they turn to Linda Lovelace to pay the bills.

There was a cinema in West Chester PA called The Warner. The same thing happened to it. They went the art house route and eventually got sold out to the Philly Enquirer. It was literally built like Tutankhamun's holiday home. Huge, gilded carved Egyptian sarcophagi flanked the screen. lots of great times with midnight showings there. Mark's twin ran the projector.

Eventually they had to sell and everyone was up in arms. Nobody wanted the local land mark to go. The Enquirer stepped in and "saved the day". That is until they striped the interior to put offices in the place. The exterior is still there, but nobody will ever get the experience of watching Eraserhead in king Tut's tomb again.

That sounded as a genuinely cool theater. Shame it got the interior thrashed.

Entirely as a thought exercise, what locations would you want in a new Duke nukem game? Don't just list off places that were levels in DN3D.

I would love to see NEO L.A return from DN2. I liked the idea of a futuristic L.A. off the coast of California.

Duke Nukem 3D came out at the right time. Duke Nukem Forever was dead on arrival no matter how we try to tell ourselves otherwise, even if it had been released in the late 90s. The difference would've been there would be far more Duke Nukem games between then and now most likely had this not happened. The spin-off games like DNZH, TTK, LOTB, etc. are exactly that, spin-offs. They made some of us happy, but for many others, those games aren't even known to have existed. It's safe to say Duke Nukem is dead beyond this community. Even if there was to be a new Duke game be it a reboot, remake, or sequel, it would suck and would more than likely split this community apart, regardless of if it is perceived by the masses as "good" or "bad", and if the game is a total stinker, then it would only make things worse, much worse. For many of us, that's what we've learned to accept as the norm when it comes to the future of Duke Nukem.

Duke should take a vacation to Mexico for some Latina heat and be ambushed by aliens and then abducted by their UFO and taken to the planet of the alien bastards where he discovers they’ve created a simulated world made out of Duke’s nightmares to enact their revenge upon him. He then returns to Earth once he’s able to get out of the nightmare matrix like world thing, crash landing in Antarctica, which the aliens have drained of all ice while Duke was away. Now, Duke must battle against the aliens on the ruins of an ancient civilization and make his way back to LA.

Not sure what does this mean. You can create a map on mapster and convert it into unity format?
