Duke Nukem Reloaded has been dead for years and there is no download link or anything, If someone says that there is link to it they are lying they proply trying to give you a virus so please don't trust them.

As far i know, has never been released.

The author had the permission to release it with a free license, but he wanted to earn money, then everything got hit by the ban hammer (please, correct me if am wrong).

Yeah,

Hollywood Holocaust, basic deathmatch, and a basic server system was all that existed in the demo that was tested. There was a map which was just the roof top from HH, with Duke on his bike, and a pig cop.

Weapons were jankier than the release version of ROTT 2013 (chaingun would continue to loop the fire animation even after running out of ammo.)

It wasn't even a cleanly finished demonstration. There were a number of dev markers left in place, including traces for things like interacting with switches and such.

That's literally all it was. Shareware weapons, Hollywood Holocaust, and janky as fuuuuu..

Not quite.

There was an agreement, yes, but what seems to have occurred is Gearbox, by that I mean Randy, made the agreement so that Interceptor could development the game, but not actually release it. They were trying to negotiate the agreement to that end, but there was obviously a communication breakdown.

Thanks for the clarifications.

With all the infos and images i've searched and saw back then, my memories had mixed up stuff from DN Reloaded and Rise of DN 3D Reloaded all togheter, definitely not the same thing.

Also, i remember another chaingun 3D model from Davox (or someone with the same avatar?) that was related to this "mod", but looks like i was wrong and i need to split these infos .

However, is always interesting to see one of your favourite games, remade with another engine, especially the UE has a very nice touch.

I wasn't in on any of what happened, so take what I say on it's own merit. What I have put together, from people who worked on it, and things that have been said in press releases and other sources is that Fred was going to try and make some money from Reloaded, through merchandise or similar. He had (according to my source) offered to pay people. The problem with that is that the license with Gearbox was a non-commercial licence, and they were going to stick to it. No money from selling the game or merchandise. No money making from the game at all. This put Fred in a bind as he had all these game developers sat expecting a paycheck. Fred could continue with Reloaded and make a free Duke game, or he could get his fledgling game dev studio some work that they would be paid for. I can't really blame him for the way he decided.

From Fred's own statement, Reloaded was NOT halted by Gearbox. Fred states here that it was he who decided to "pull the plug" on Reloaded - Not Gearbox, not Randy.

Here are your options if you want to 'experience' Reloaded.

1. Find a torrent file for the thing. If you can't find a torrent file on the web, sleep with someone who does have it (and before you ask, no I don't have a copy).

2. Install DNF, arbitrarily remove loads of random model and map files from the game directory. Try and play the game.

3. Install the level editor for Serious Sam 3 and make some custom levels for the Serious Duke mod. It has a complete Duke experience out of the box and working multiplayer. Knock yourself out.

4. Download Unreal or Unity game engine. Spend a year or two (or four or five) learning how to model in 3D, program enemy AI, write multiplayer network code and level design. Make your own Duke Nukem Reloaded, with blackjack and hookers (and PTSD).

Duke nuken reloaded sadly passed away from lack of vitamin $ due to the Legal Eagle soaring down on the supply chain of that much needed vitamin for Duke nuken reloaded. It was a sad day for us all, but it was a sadder day for Freschy Fresch. He buried Duke nuken reloaded next to the Duke4 garage. Now I could never be sure, but I thought that on that very night I heard the sound of "Taps" being played. Gently.

Duke Nukem Reloaded never would have been good. I doubt it would have even ever been finished, Gearbox and Randy aside. DNR was just a quick way to get free publicity and hype.

Well, to be fair... I don’t think that’s what was initially intended with all that, for all that beta crap to be a publicity stunt, but I do see how it looks that way now.

After all, Shadow Warrior alphas and betas were released, and a lot of the beta duke stuff has been posted on these forums, at least I remember there being a demo reel, as well as a lot of cut artwork (eg. the fat commanders crawling around trying to put their guts back inside).. but I do think it was lame the way it was inevitably handled altogether.

I can see why fans would be upset, and why others might feel like they are all just holding onto the files themselves (the latter isn’t really the case though, but there are those that feel this way). A lot of fans were convinced they were going to see all that stuff and then there was just silence by the “authority” who made that thread to begin with, at least if it’s the one I think you’re referring to, and it was just thrown onto the admins and mods of Duke4 to deal with the community upset. At least that’s what I got out of the whole thing.

To the people who are holding out that Reloaded was some great lost era in the history of Duke Nukem - it just wasn't . It wasn't even finished.

For real - If you want to craft your own modern Duke adventure:

1. Go get Serious Sam 3 Fusion.
2. Install Serious Duke 3D from the Steam workshop.
3. Download the level editor.
4. Make your own adventure.

SD3D has a complete adventure, it has mod support, it has a level editor. You can add your own models. Make your own levels where Duke can go wherever you can imagine. Add a new monster.

Everything that Reloaded promised but failed to deliver is already there, finished and working in Serious Duke.

Reminder that this only happened after a third party contacted those with the rights and they were like "Wait, what? We have those!?" after constant badgering of said party by those who run the boards, and those close to 3DR, to not contact said people. As for Reloaded, it needs to be memory holed. It was never going to happen, it never will and it would have sucked anyway.

Then what got released without "said party"'s involvement was just the old 0.9 beta taken from "said party"'s own website, and a single build found by 3DR, ignoring the cache of more interesting ones. Some victory.

At that time I was consumed by finishing my last semester of university. I don't work on the demand of forum assholes.

No. It wasn't halted by Gearbox. Gearbox simply put bars on the tracks to keep it from happening.

They never said they couldn't make it. They simply said they weren't allowed to release until they said it was clear to go. Which effectively binds them.


Gearbox didn't pull the trigger, but they were spinning the gun on the table.

Ish. Ish. I'm not convinced Reloaded would have come out as polished as Serious Duke, and even with that said Serious Duke still doesn't quite play like a Duke Nukem game. It plays like A hybrid of Sam and Duke. It's close, but not quite right. STill I give major major props to the developers for doing as much as they did. It's an incredible amount of work.
