Does anyone use the "side view" in 2D mode?
I think having floor and wall textures for "side view" in 2D mode would make it more useful. As of now, this mode does help people see some height constructs better, but there is room for improvement.
I'm wondering if the Developers have any ideas about this.

That's what you have 3D mode for.
2D mode side view is primarily for editing TROR geometry.

It’s also occasionally useful for dragging vertices to match up slopes.
I have a feeling that adding textures would be a bigger effort than people think. With a wireframe, you don’t have to worry about occlusion culling for example.

Yea. An option to only view selected sectors.

The side view mode would be good for that.
It also helps with helical staircases.
