TL;DR
In short:
- log file?
- how to reproduce?
- tried debug excutable + ebacktrace1-64.dll?
OK, I did it for you:
- clean install, using [Enter] only to start E1L1. Press F2 when Duke starts talking.
eduke32.log (2.23K)
Number of downloads: 94
eduke32.crash.log (1.08K)
Number of downloads: 102
[Edit:]r8658 is the culprit. Better crashlog:
eduke32.crash-2.log (4.43K)
Number of downloads: 107

I get the silent crash to desktop immediately upon trying to save the game. Pressing F6 instantly crashes, or selecting "save game" from the pause menu instantly crashes. It does this regardless of whether it's a vanilla install or my mod. Nothing is entered in the log when this happens, although I didn't try the debug build.
I know that LeoD already bisected what I assume is the same problem, but it's been 3 days since this was reported, it makes the current EDuke32 pretty unusable.

The same happens to me, also crashes when selecting "load game".
If i start Ion Fury though eduke and let it autosave then the "load game" menu works (even on Duke 3D). It looks like it crashes when it can't find a save to show.
Still crashes when trying to save though.
