Heretic 2 ESARGAN, CaS OpenAL EAX

#1

I have a custom Heretic2 launcher that basically does the following:

  • Adds Contrast Adaptive Sharpening pass.
  • Adds widescreen, and fov/brightness support.
  • Adds HD texture support(PNG's).
  • Adds music support.
  • Fixes numerous buffer over flow bugs.

I also have a custom WndSnd.dll that does the following:
  • Adds OpenAL support.
  • EAX reverb.
  • Positional Audio.
  • I also have a custom game/client effects/player DLL that does the following:

This build doesn't have the hd texture support yet, and obviously I can't release a ESARGAN upscale package, so instead 0.05 will come with a texture conversion guide.

Heretic 2 is a highly underappreciated title and deserves more modding attention. Anything that can make the game run better on modern systems and improves textures quality is more than welcome.

Agreed 100%. I've owned Heretic II for almost three years, and it's a good game that doesn't deserve to be forgotten. As someone who was following the game getting reverse-engineered a while back, I'm looking forward to seeing how this project develops.
