Duke Nukem Happy Meal Toy? "Can anyone give me any info on this?"
#1 Posted 30 May 2009 - 11:34 PM
Question is: Does anyone here recall a fast food restaurant promoting Duke Nukem? I can't imagine a fast food restaurant promoting a character like Duke in a kids meal, but they obviously did. If I knew exactly when they were including those toys in their meals back then, I would have got one in a heartbeat!

I think there might have been an action figure sold at one point that was Duke on a motorcycle.

I searched the web and I cannot find any info about it. It was definitely a happy meal toy. It was one of type of toys where you pull it backwards, and it starts rolling forward by itself.

Edit - I can't imagine a fast food chain promoting Duke. Imagine the advertisments.

Haha, no, it didn't look like that. It was definitely Duke, though. It said so on the bottom. You know the Time to Kill intro movie where Duke is on his bike? Well, that's what the toy looked like.

was duke actually like molded onto the bike or was he seperate?
could have been a collectors item or something and he made that part up about getting it from a fast food place, or it was customly made or something.
but i doubt any fast food chain would support a title adult as duke nukem especially for kids meals.

So, you know for certain it's not the one that I've seen here on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Duke-Nukem-Action-Fi...725&sr=8-11
I believe I also found on Octabrain action figure as well, which I believe was done from the same company, iirc.
http://www.amazon.com/Octabrain-Figure-Fro...8725&sr=8-4
All in all, I can definitely see how rare these are, and if they were indeed from a McDonald's or Burger King, I certainly would've known about it, but that was so long ago, I really don't think it's made as much a mention.

Yes, he was molded to it. Well, I can't say for sure that it came out of a happy meal, but it sure looked like it did. I mean, it was nothing fancy, but it would be cool to find out about it, etc. Maybe Joe would know. Hopefully, he'll come over here and see this thread.

Don't you have it anymore? (Assuming you don't) if you dug it up and put the picture on a few forums you'd get a response. I wouldn't mind hearing more about this. Why not go to a local Maccy D's and just ask if they know anything about a Duke Nukem toy?

How on earth would that do any thing?
If you went there and said, "Do you know anything about a Duke Nukem toy" they would look at you and most likely say "Duke Nukem, huh. Whats that?"

Hm, you do have a good point, I think it's time to get on a bus and go to the hear of McDonalds!
But really.. remember when Duke was just a 2D pink-vest-wearing guy shooting squiggly lines out of a pixel gun?.. Actully no, I was thinking it could be modeld after that, but he had a bike.. he never had a bike back then.. but really, this is quite queer, i'd love to know more about it.

I think your memory is playing tricks on you.
No way in hell would any takeaway food franchise use Duke Nukem as a promotion especially for a kids meal.

I never said it came from a fast-food restaurant. It did look like a toy you would get from a place like that, however. Like I said, it was nothing fancy. It was just a cheap little toy. Regardless of where it came from, it was labeled Duke NukemĀ® on the bottom of it.

I don't know why people keep saying that. I've been a Duke fan for years! It's pretty much the only game series I play. I know Duke when I see him. Yeah, you're probably right. It could've been a bootleg. And I'm from America, by the way. The same state you're from to be exact.

You should probably see a doctor about this if that's the case.

Why is everyone ganging up and attacking me all of a sudden? LOL, this happens every time! If one person starts, then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and assists. You should be ashamed to even do such a thing to a fellow Duke fan. If that was me posting comments like that to you guys, I wouldn't even be here still, but it's obviously ok to target specific people here in these forums. In my personal opinion, you have no business in this thread if you're just here to attack. I posted this thread for others to see and hopefully someone would have info about this, not to get gang-raped for one's personal enjoyment. And don't deny it, you love it!

Well, I'm not angry. I'm just tired of going through stuff like this here with people all the time. I would understand if I offended someone else and they attacked me back, but I didn't. Let's just try to get along, ok?
