Black Screen on eduke32
#1 Posted 06 January 2019 - 06:31 AM
I had a trouble with eduke32,when i run the game, nothing appears, only the mouse cursor appears.
In the older versions, the game runs normal, my video card is intel 965 chipset drivers.
Thanks

You would have to post a lot more, e.g. which EDuke32 version you are running, info about your system (CPU, RAM, OS, GPU etc) and ideally a copy of your eduke32.log file.

It's pretty old, but that card should handle opengl 2.0
if you can run older snapshots, but not one from december, then maybe it's a driver issue.
When was the last time you updated the graphics drivers?

The black screen issue was since the build of august 2018
I formatted the pc was in two weeks ago and my software of iobit driver booster and slim drivers showed that all devices are updated
in case of gpu i had to download manually on site of intel

if you can narrow down which version was the last working version, then you can look at the changelog in the first non-working snapshot & the devs can figure out what caused the issue.
Otherwise you're kinda asking them to guess, and they really don't have time for that while they're working on a commercial game.
i'm not the guru, but from your log, it looks like the latest snapshots are possibly moving away from opengl 2.0 to maybe 2.1, or something else.

Is there a reason you are using the 32 bit version of Eduke32 instead of the 64 bit version?

Which version of windows i could use, 32 or 64 bit to play eduke32? because my version is 32 bit
I always used 32 bits cuz its doesn't take up so much memory

you can't. Your video chip doesn't support it.
Again, it would be helpful if you knew exactly which version of eduke32 was the last working version. It would help narrow down the changes that were made which would affect your system.
That means you probably have to download and test several snapshots before you find the first one that no longer allows you to play the game.

Polymost palette-indexed texture rendering
the problem youre having matches the changes that were made.
Can anything be done to remedy it?
I don't know, but pogokeen is the person to send a pm to and ask to look at this thread. If pogokeen had bothered to stay active on the forum. Now you have to hope one of the other maintainers knows what to do.
It's a pretty old issue - almost a year ago, and your hardware is pretty dated. So don't be too optimistic about getting results
