Dark Temple  "Single map level"

Showing few exterior shots.

Is a very large temple on a small island in the middle of the sea.
level will have some similarity to the Temple level in Oblivion EP1
PS can be played in Polymer mode (HRP) or Polymer mode 8bit (no HRP) so TROR doesn't glitch out

Well is a different usermap
has its own con code etc.

it will have 2 batch files.

One for polymer HRP.
Polymer without HRP (8 bit mode), polymer reason is so TROR doesn't glitch out

Still need to try floating isle. But I'm pretty sure my lap isn't gonna run it, it has an ATI.

What are the spec on your laptop?

I don't know that info now, but I can tell you that Hollywood Hollocuast Rethinked "runs" at absolutely 0fps. (Well not really but something about 6-8fps)

probably in the near future ill make a 8bit version polymer mode for the floating isle for slower machines

I'm guessing Quest Town will run at about 1-2 fps. It was more demanding than HHR. Its long past time to sell your sister and use the money to upgrade. :rolleyes:

Added most of the windows and etc, now at like close to 1000 sectors and little less than 10k lines
Done fair amount of interior etc.

Just ATI vs Polymer, rescent games run smoothly. And Quest Town runs pretty descent 🤔

Coreection: Just checked Quest Town and it runs from 7 to 15 fps (I think due lack of enemies) HHR doesn't even run lol, so the Ofps wasn't an exaggeration.

Have you thought about designing your TROR so that it works with the classic renderer? The AMC TC has some highly advanced TROR that works without polymer.

Well in classic it does hom., moderate to intensive, level has insane TROR, hom hits that small path through violet lavapit and temple structure
I use the latest Eduke32

You can’t just do whatever you feel like with TROR in classic, there are certain restrictions you have to adhere to, which IIRC are discussed on the wiki, but you can pull off some pretty advanced stuff if you do.

Check out Ghost Ship from the AMC TC episode 2 as perhaps the best example. Hidden Dojo might also be worth looking at.

In polymer mode lag is caused by

textures. texture_n, texture_s, texture_g etc or all combined
And going crazy on the glowing (SE49 SE50)
And more.

The 8bitmode batch file is in polymer mode but no models nor HRP.
just the 8bit textures of TILEART files and preserves the SE49 SE50, glowing projectile fire, glowing fire etc but wont go crazy on it in this level,.

More screenshots of the Dark temple.
Have to be in gamemode for most of the shots to avoid spoilage and certain things that only shows well in game mode.

Dark Temple is kinda based on a hybrid of Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider and others.

They're made of energy, glow and spins very fast etc.

You have a very interesting design style, with a strong mid-90s vibe to it. Initially I expected something akin to the Secrets of the Arcopolis, but there's a definite charm to a more minimalistic approach as well. Love the Prince of Persia reference BTW :rolleyes:

Did somebody succeed in playing Dark Temple ?

I'm having 3 errors in both mode :

Found 2 warning(s), 3 error(s).

I've extract all zip content in D3DTemple directory, put DUKE3D.GRP in it and run DarkTemple.bat or DarkTemple_8bit.bat
