Sparkle 7  "A new Build engine game in development."

Sparkle 7 a new Build engine game will be the most story based game ever. It will rely on your wits and your killer instinct. Armed with only makeshift weapons you must defeat the Cause, a cult started by crazy parrots after an comet strike. Join the Resistance in their battle for independence from the parrots reign of terror.

Sparkle 7 will be using the Build engine and will feature hubs. This means you can reenter levels at any time without them being reset.

What does the game play like? Use your dagger for stealth killing and other bigger weapons for major battles. Set the people on fire with your flamethrower and fire grenades.

Sparkle 7 is being developed by Mickey Productions.

If you are interested in beta-testing, PM me.

You could try not mspainting by the numbers when it comes to Strife... you could maintain your intended 8-year-old's art direction vision (which for the record, I don't really have a problem with) without being painfully derivative. It's just going to cause a recollection of a professional game and work against your project's charm. It's a thing i'd expect of programmer art for Free Software'd game sources' media rather than an attempt of an original build game.

I could improve on it but I need an artist to do it for me.

Have you tried asking the guy at Doomworld forums who had volunteered to do something for Shaw's Nightmare a while ago?

Anyways, leilei's idea (as I understood it) is that you could do just well with your current art style but the fact that you're trying to produce a direct clone of Strife takes away from the uniqueness of your project.

I tried once and he never replied. Plus I don't have his contacts anymore.

I'm not really trying to create a clone of Strife. I'm just trying to make a game similar to Strife.

If it looks like Strife, and plays like Strife...

At this point, why not make an open-source replacement for Strife, similar to Freedoom?

There's a project already but it is my understanding that it was put on hold indefinitely due to lack of time on the author's part:

Obviously such a project requires far more effort than Freedoom, due to the complex plot of the original game.

You're twisting my point. I'm not suggesting any "free strife" should be done; what I meant was "you don't have to clone a game and it would work against you". Art ability has nothing to do with this.

Suggesting an actual Strife clone to be mspainted by the numbers would be ill-advised.
