so it will do what you're attempting -
- except on certain 'character / named' sprites that have hard coded cstat values

Isn't he wanting to have those shadows switch on and off with a light switch?
If so, the answer is no. Duke 3D doesn't allow for fine control over surface lighting like that.

dude.
think about it.
the (transparent) sprites' shade values are set to match the room when the lights are off.
then.
when the lights are turned on.
they stay 'dark' because they won't take on the shade properties of the newly lit sectors.
they now effectively look like shadows.
turns the lights back off & they match the shade of the room again.
smoke more weed, you're too smart for your own good.
