Will the recent shutdown of 3D realms re-ignite the mod community?  "I hope so."

I say, let's keep the king alive and open threads for Duke mods for Quake, Half-life, Source, Sauerbraten, etc. etc.

In the unlikely event the modders get reprimanded or sued by 3drealms or whoever...
They, assumably, know the risks but decide to invest their time and efforts into it anyway.

Why intentionally try to pick a fight at the potential cost of losing months of hard work?

Because, he's an idiot and thinks that opening a thread means that a mod is done.

Just a warning that any topics on mods not done in Duke 3D will probably be deleted without much second thought. This also includes mods done in other engines copying content from Duke Nukem 3D.

Edit so as to avoid double post

I basically finished recoding the Marines for the SST 2 Alpha. I have one thing left and that's being able to issue other squad leaders move commands. Then it's on to the Arachnids.

Quick question though: If the leader of another squad (say Green Squad) dies, should I make another member of Green Squad be assigned the leader? Or should I make all of the members of that squad join your squad (since you're the "commander")?

I beg your pardon. ;)

Forums like these are venues for free discussion of various topics
as long as we conduct ourselves in a courteous and professional manner.

Your resorting to insults and name calling is totally unnecessary and uncalled for. ;)
Although, I should't be surprised coming from someone who asininely gave himself a self-indulgent moniker.

You could make it depend on the size of the squad (if the squad is down to 3 or fewer, join the player, otherwise pick a new leader). Because it's kind of silly to have tiny squads --realistically they would join up with larger ones. But maybe you don't want them joining up with the player every time a leader dies because then you could have too many people following the player around.

Probably what I should do is select a leader until there's only one person left, and then that person joins the player's squad. Then the player only has a max of 3 extra people following him.
