Best Duke3d Map Editor?

Hey all,

I come from ages of playing Doom][ to Duke3D.
I loved the game. though now I finished it. And I want to do the same as I wanted for Doom back them. Make maps.

Doom had a good editor called DoomBuilder.

But I havn't yet found a good (non-dos) Duke map editor.
Isnt there any editor out that that doesnt have a to big of a learning curve and that just works out of the box.
I run Linux so I would prefer a native build.

So, what is your favourite map editor?
And Ill try them :)

Also, doom supported scripting (so you could make mods. I made a MoreGore mod, that I would like to put in Duke aswell. (Brains popped out of monsters sometimes and you can pick them up and eat them. The more brains you did eat the more you turned in a Demon. And you learned Demon skills etc. Would be nice in Duke ^^))

Thanks already.

Cheers,
Robin

www.eduke32.com comes with Mapster32, which is pretty similar to the original Build program but it works in Windows and has better functionality. I think there's also a Linux version of Mapster because the guy who wrote EDuke is a Linux guru. Check the site.

Oh thanks, but isnt Mapset that Dos Program thats badly ported?
Btw, I had a look at http://www.eduke32.com/ and it looks like a Win only version :/

Ah well atleast there is a DukePort in the BuildSystem ^^

Cheers,
Robin

It's not Mapset, it's Mapster. And it's an excellent port. :)

This might help: http://wiki.eduke32....Duke32_on_Linux

heh thanks it was in my Repo though :)
Ill try Mapster.

Oh I have one small problem with Duke that I cant seem to solve.
When I start it it says something about a file not found, he asks me do you want me to make this file for you?
I press Y and nothing happens.
I also tried to do that as root.
Still nothing..

I think its either a flaw or a big oftrail from this current Topic ^^

Its probably the texture precatching. Which helps the computer from loading art faster.
