Ages in Time TC  "does anyone has it somewhere? - I can´t find it on the internet"

Hello everybody,

does anyone of you still have the Ages in Time TC laying around on your harddrive?

It was a nice medieval TC with very nice design and effects. I found it (an .exe file) on an old CD, but my Win8 doesn´t want to open it (of course ist doens´t tell me why).
So it would be great if anyone who still have this TC can upload it somewhere and post the link here.

I also didn´t find the TC on the Dukeworld site here, neither on any other TC site.

I uploaded my version (the .exe file) on Zippyshare, so maybe someone can have a look and can open it and upload it as a .zip archive somewhere.
Here is the link: http://www39.zippysh...36244/file.html

Thank you in advance.

Most likely because it's a 16bit executable.

Wait a couple of minutes ... done.

I remember I really enjoyed that one back in the days.

Thank you, LeoD. I also found it here and here, but both time it was also the .exe file.

Maybe these file schould be replaced by the .zip file.

agestime.exe is actually a self-extracting ZIP archive and as such can be opened with your favourite archive tool, like WinRAR or 7zip. While it perhaps would be reasonable to add a simple files package for modern users, I suppose the original file should be kept anyway for historical reasons.

The TC itself looks cool. I haven't heard about it before, so thanks for bringing this up! :P

I don't know if anyone needs it, but here is a build that allows you to run this TC using eduke. Thanks to Duke Esrasa and the fact that the file was modified by me through windows xp, you can play on Win 7.

You might want to remove that link. The zipped file contains the original DUKE3D.GRP file. Can't do that. Take out that file and repost your zip.

Delete files. Well, it makes no sense to just remove the original DUKE3D.GRP, because it is modified and the game will not start without it. Any other will not do. So, either the whole thing, or nothing. Apologize. Well, at least you downloaded it :) . Maybe you can somehow make it work as it should without the original file and upload it here)

Exactly how modified is it? If it's completely unrecognizable surely it could just be renamed?

The title is "Mystique - Ages in Time" actually, and it has a stable host on ModDB since 2016.

DN3D Wiki page.

I am sure there is no need to integrate the entire thing into the original groupfile. That's something some people needlessly did back in the 90s, maybe. Unless it's a standalone TC and the provided duke3d.grp doesn't contain any original assets any more at all.

Here you go guys, I did a repack of 1.0+1.1 that is setup to work* in EDuke32. I made sure there were no unique files from Duke3D distributed, being that it's a TC it contains many edited Duke3D files and I don't really care to take the repack that far. Someone else is more than welcome to repackage it further for usage with RedNukem (which is probably where it will work best) or GDX, fix problems with modern ports, redistribute it further, or whatever.

Download

*It appears E1L1 has some kind of issue running in EDuke32, I'm not sure how to fix that and don't desire to fix it myself. You can noclip through to where you need to go.

Also pardon my ignorance NightFright , but you can actually remove all the original assets from the duke3d.grp?!

My guess is he just dumped the assets from Mystique on top of the contents of Duke3D.GRP then distributed it. That's not really necessary with EDuke32, my repack still requires Duke3D.GRP to play.

And yes, you could theoretically remove all contents from Duke3D.GRP, slap your own in there, and distribute it as a standalone TC. There's a few older mods I can't recall offhand that do that. You would still need to name many things the same as their original Duke3D.GRP counterpart or the game wouldn't know what to do with them, and if critical file names are missing the game won't boot.

Since this is a DOS TC, you should be able to run it in Rednukem as well. I bet that will fix whatever E1L1 issue there is.

It's definitely using some kind of shitty hack to get the effect, but yeah, I'm on a shitty WinXP netbook right now so I didn't feel like pursuing it any further. The "hard" work is done. lol

Confirming it works on new eduke 32 on my old but still kickin laptop. Only had time to boot because I'm pulling an all nighter but as soon as I get home I'll play test it further. From what I saw it looks really interesting! Some weird graphical bugs but it's playable.

Coincidentally, I have been playing this recently, here's a ZIP I use with Eduke32 and seems to be running without much issues. Jimmy's download probably works fine, but just in case here's what I have. Just run ages.bat

That's funny, I was meaning to play this a few days ago as well and noticed it didn't work in eduke32 as is. Those downloads should help.
