It says BETA-Review. So I guess there is no rating but just conclusions.

I will buy the magazine in some hours and post the beta test on dukewatch.

I'm now reading the article. Just a note: it looks like extremely positve and has many new, unseen screenshots. An interesting note: all of these had to be acknowledged by 2K before.

Not today, sorry.

Just a quick note: singleplayer is about 9-10 hours according to PC Action.

DI-MeisterM i'm afraid you might be confusing "new screenshots" with the "old beta screenshot leaks". Not 100% sure but i've seen a few of the pics in that magazine and they're from a really old beta build.

As i said, considering i haven't seen the full article+all the shots i might be wrong.

The conclusion is extremely hard ?
In dutch i can translate it extreem lastig, because i am dutch, so it basically means extremely hard ?

The reviews seem very suprising though, even for a beta test.

No, PC Action took all screenshots on their own and asked 2K after that for permission. Of course these are based on a preview build of DNF.

No, "lässig" means "carefree", which translates to "zorgeloos" in Dutch.
I don't really get what it means in the context of the (p)review though, "cool" perhaps?

Extreem zorgeloos ?
It means the game has its own mind ?
Sounds like a Duke game.

Anyways..

I just saw the first bad review about DNF on some turkish site.
6.8, now that makes me feel really stupid, either the turkeys can't understand the fun about the games or they were basing it on the fact that it has been in development for over 14 years.
They did say at some point that they don't understand where all the hype came from after all these years.

I personally think it was a shit reviewer, because he barely gave us some new information about the game because, he didn't say a thing about the interactivity and the humor.

quick translation - sorry my english isn't that good and the comments of the authors are using a lot of words they made up

EDIT: updated with better sentences

duke krauss thinks:

"the chapter has ended, but the book hasn't for sure"

my prejudice: "the hero of my childhood is coming back, this can't - no - this MUST NOT go wrong! This will the best game of all times"

duke nukem is a relict of days that went by a long time ago - when action still was simple and nobody knew who michael bay was and jean claude van damme did stand for sophisticated entertainment.
So does Forever, which is an 80ties actionmovie - with an outrageous story, half naked women, flat characters and a self-admiring main character - which can't be possibly any more awesome.
Compared to todays standards this adventure basically can only fail - especially from a technical standpoint.
The question you should ask yourself, is not "how good is duke?", but "what do i demand from duke?" and "which game has the most boobs?".
My only thing that bothers me: the game is not a mystery anymore

chris nukem says:

"beer open, duke on - fuck yeah, that's life"

my prejudice: "no title can live up to such hype - either the disappointment of duke nukem forever will fall through all floors or it will explode our brains"

"I for myself celebrate the arrival of the king like the victory of germany at the quarterfinals (soccer) in 2006 against argentinia and i have with duke nukem forever a fucking great time.
But i can understand, if one or another won't give this guilty pleasure from hell a chance.

Because duke comes up with a lot of old stuff, but stuff that has become more awesome throughout the years.

I'll try to find, but so far without succes.

Edit :

I didn't find it but i found another one that doesn't sound all too convincing, he loves it but he's almost certain that it won't be for newcomers.

( link deleted )
I can't link it because it contains a fix for the pirated PS3 version

Here's some info about the author :

"smoke weed everyday"

I am sorry man, i'll try to keep looking for that turkish one but so far with not results.

Well the turks likes graphics too much.
Don't forget that Crysis was made by a turkish team lead by a turkish designer. (Cevet Yerli)
DNF has the graphics of a ps2 game,so it's fine.

Yeah it's hard to translate that, and seriously, it isn't really worth it. Some things, which I think are important to know:

WARNING some spoilers included!

- there's some nice Battlefield related joke in it, but I can't manage to translate it good
- animation details of enemies is kinda poor
- DNF's gameplay mechanics & technics are refreshing in days of CoD
- you can only leave an area when you killed the last remaining enemy
- to continue the way you have to look in many cases for some kind of item to continue, like energycells
- PC Action thinks the game is very brutal and not censored
- bad water effects, weak textures here and there
- often too much tearing and annoying DOF effects (which you can turn off)
- nice physics & shrinkage riddles and dive & drive parts
- 9 to 10 hours for singleplayer
- Gordon Freeman would be proud of Duke's riddles
- tits are good, but only in the first part of the game, because the appearence of these have been reduced in the second half of the game

Would be a lot of work to translate the whole article.

And "Extrem lässig" means "Extreme cool"

Hehe and in a germans eyes, dutch language is a mix between erotic and puking :-P.

All in all its a really positive beta-review.. even if there are some contradictions like in the review they say that its not stretched and so on and in the con-section they say it feels a little stretched sometimes..
