Any general or random advice for the first child?

Last time I gave advice to a first time father, I was given the "don't tell me how to parent my kids" speech.

So I don't know how to feel about this question.

The only time I gave advice on parenting, half of my family got pissed and kept yelling at me about it. The last I knew my Nephew still spoke like a Telefugly and had a dummy in his mouth, because my brother didn't bother to raise him, along with his landwhale wife, and nobody would listen to me. Eventually I'd just ignore the kid unless he spoke to me properly, but that also made them mad and now I'm not allowed to see that lot any more. Luckily I don't care, it's not my fault or my problem if he's getting beaten up in school on a daily basis, I at least tried.

Were you asked for advice the first time, or did you just give it?

also, the, "don't tell me how to parent my kids", parents are the reason millennials are the way they are.

I gave advice. Take it or leave it, I'd say.

Then you shouldn't feel much of anything about giving advice. Especially in this case where it's actually being asked for.

My ISP emailed me and said they've doubled my internet speed for free. No trails or expiration, same price. Just free. Must be making strides with setting up infrastructure in my area or something. Getting around 312Mbps average download speeds now. I'm happy.

You're quickly going to realize how few sites on the internet actually go that fast, though now you can use multiple of them at the same time without clogging up your connection.

I find my internet browsing is really fast. I always thought it was a network speed issue, but the page still needs to be assembled on my local machine. With the recent changes to Firefox, that's no longer an issue.

I just wanted to make a quick post here and say hi, I'm back after a bit of a hiatus, pc died...

Anyhow, I'm up and running again. Gonna pick up one of my unfinished EDuke32 projects, clean it up and finish it off.

Good christian dog. He turned the other cheek.

Drek: I had a hiatus. Just use some ointment and it should go away in about 2 weeks. What unfinished stuff do you have to choose from?

Well right before the crash I was gearing up to do a 48 hour mod for Ludum Dare. It was using Oblige to make Doom maps, then M210s program to convert them to build, I had m32 script do the next steps texturing, enemy swaps... a custom Mapster that would run the script quit exit and save 5 mins to generate convert an episode worth of maps. I'm just going to drop the procedural stuff and build upon the code base I have now, it's a simple hub level with multiple "dungeons" each one having a "prize" collect them all to open up the "boss" map. It was meant to be a quick and dirty fill in the theme based on the compo, generate maps, textures, sounds, as much as possible, make a few weapons and enemies (blender has some decent procedural generation abilities I was prepared to exploit for this end) then polish the thing up for the last 12? hours. Now I'm going to scrap all the plans for procedural stuff and take some time making decent custom content, pulling some of my better works from previous projects, like those trees in WGR I want to map with that theme sort of.

Here's a fun script, it cycled through all the "coins" generated by the oblige->build process, finds the one furthest from both the entrance and exit sprites leading to the hub map and it makes that "coin" the "prize" all very generic at this point.
Spoiler

Yeah, use as much WGR stuff as possible. We made a ton of stuff and they need to get more usage. I'm sure there are some that never even got used. Also, if you want anything from Quest Town, feel free to grab it. Just let me know what it is so I can watch for it in your game. :)

I don't care about my browsing. It's fast already. It's the downloading I'm concerned with. Though, it seems they left upload speeds as it is because "most people don't need more than that". Sigh.
