[RELEASE] Manglement Offices  "Another old Doom-style map I've had lying around in my Duke folder"

#1

Here's another old Dom-style map that I found lying around in my Duke folder and finally decided to finish. (This one in particular had been metaphorically gathering dust since 2017 (judging by the last-modified date of an old incomplete version of the map in my Duke folder). Also, if it makes you feel any better, I don't have very many more of these old Doom-style maps lying around, nor do I have a time machine with which to go back to 2017 and leave any more incomplete maps lying around for Present ToiletDuck64 to finally finish.)
This map, if it were in a complete episode, would be where the secret exit of Overspill Area would go. (The idea is that the rooms, passages, etc. of this map would be located in the void (non-sector) spaces in the building in which that map takes place.)
By the way, one thing I did differently with this map is that I used quite a few more non-STAYPUT enemies than I usually do (although quite a few of them are still STAYPUT here and there); you will probably encounter the natural consequences of that.

Woah you've been absolutely killing it with releases lately, that's great to see, thanks for sharing your work. My backlog of maps I really want to play just keeps growing but I will bump every thread once I have. Seen video footage of some of your other recent maps on YouTube for now since that's more convenient and I really like what you have going on in terms of style; it really is cool seeing you drop so much stuff.

This map has some pretty neat set pieces and I like the use of all the dev's faces throughout the map. It's pretty short but challenging. I think there may be a few too many aliens in the starting room though which may turn some people off, but they're pretty easy to bypass if you're not going for 100% kills anyhow. For me, my goal was simply to survive and reach the end, and it took a few tries but I did get through in a little short of five minutes. I was unable to find either secret, but I didn't really attempt to look for them either I'll admit.

Not bad. I think I enjoyed filthprc a bit more, but this was still fun.

Dropping DNSKILL's video here:

I reckon people have their reasons for not posting their YouTube playthroughs directly on here themselves (and I can understand humility or discretion, or not wanting to spoil the map, or a near infinity of things) but that's a trend I wouldn't mind seeing pick up and catch on, personally and for what that's worth. Shouldn't qualify as shilling or whatever since this forum really is designed as a platform where to do it. I've glimpsed into a few different communities where including or even just posting playthroughs as feedback is common practice and I think that's actually pretty cool (although especially when it doesn't completely replace words; would still pick words over video if I had to but good thing I don't), thus wanted to say as far as I'm concerned I would encourage it.

I'll take this into consideration for sure for the future. The main reason I usually avoid posting my videos on my own is I feel a bit weird about self-promotion, but seeing that some of my videos have received over 1K views, I'm starting to think maybe there is an audience for this DIG videos after all.

I'm hoping to see more maps from ToiletDuck64 in the near future. While some of them tend to seem near unfair at times, there's usually tricks to get through them. I'm not sure if that was by design or not. I can see the "doom-like" design here when it comes to the level design itself, but it feels more like a really tough map than what I'd usually see in Doom WADS, which tend to be slaughter maps. I think that DN3D certainly can do that density of enemies quite well, but it takes a lot of TLC to ensure it isn't just flat out frustrating. I think ToiletDuck64 has found the balance for the most part, providing difficult maps that have a fever-dream like aesthetic.
