Duke: Nuclear Winter Plus

The problem is on your end. NW+ does not contain a duke3d_hrp.def file. In addition, I don't know what would cause so many errors, and the default HRP file is much shorter than 87 lines.

That came as a result of setting the default folder to HRP in order to include that with the NWinter HRP art. And I looked at my HRP def and it is indeed that big.

I'm wrong, duke3d_hrp.def is actually that long. Update your EDuke32 version so that it recognizes the highpalookup entries.

I'm still ironing out flaws and making improvements to the batch file since I changed the data from being locked in the root EDuke32 directory to being sort of locked into a subdirectory or two. Anyway, update your local SVN and run "nw_debug.bat". I've added some debug functionality to the batch file enabled with that wrapper .bat which will print the directory whenever it changes.

Once you see the error, use the copy functionality in cmd.exe by right-clicking, selecting "Mark", dragging to select the region you want to copy, then pressing Enter. (If you don't want to drag, you can also select one corner, press shift, and click on the other corner.)

OK, I re-downloaded the files and ran nw_debug.bat. Same error:

I made some major updates to the batch file, so try again and see if it works for you.

What version of Duke Plus are you using? Try updating it. If that doesn't fix it, I need to update code on my end.

I made this new guide to the SVN: How to Download Add-on HRP SVNs

If your current setup follows The Commander's idea of having a separate repository, then exporting it, I highly recommend that you move the actual repository folder (not an export) to match the description given in the instructions, and the batch file will now automatically keep it updated for you, using SVN software if it is installed. (Note: SVN software is not bundled with the pack.)

The batch file doesn't work properly if the nwinter & nw_plus are in a subfolder they have to be in the eduke directory, same with vaca+ too. It copies the grp file into the folder but then the bat file just opens & closes really quickly

It should work if you use the Technical Name, like the instructions say.

Are the folders named "nw_plus" and "vaca_plus"? I don't know why it would flash-close though.

Post the output of the debug bat, if you can.

system32? That's... odd.

Can you copypaste the output of the batch file and post it here, inside codebox tags?

What is the full path to your eduke32.exe and to NWinter.bat?

Do you have MS AntiSpyware by any chance?

C:\EDUKE32\nw_plus\nw_plus\NWinter.bat

By all means it should work. However, Microsoft Security Essentials probably still has this bug:

http://www.pcreview....g-t1709822.html

Try disabling it if you can, or adding your EDuke32 directory to its exclusion list, then trying it again.

If that fixes it, re-enable it (and remove EDuke32 from the exclusion list if applicable), and I will send you a special batch file which will track when the directory changes, then correct it.

Yeah the folders are named correctly, the debug bat file also closes.

I managed to see what it says though:

DEBUG: EDuke32 directory: "C:\duke3d\"
DEBUG: NW+ directory: "C:\duke3d\nw_plus\nw_plus\"
DEBUG: NWHRP directory: "C:\duke3d\nw_plus\"

The process tried to write to a nonexistent pipe

Extracted maps not found or patched. Proceeding to installation.

and then it says something else underneath but it's too quick to read before it closes. It looks like it says this:

="full" was unexpected at this time

Same deal with vaca+

There's something wrong with sha1sum.exe. Perhaps it doesn't exist, or I need to add more DLLs.

I fixed a stupid typo forgetting to add an extra "=" to make a comparison. Try updating. I wish batch files wouldn't explode due to an error like that.

I really should be paid for this :)

Not yet uploaded. I need to know how this highpal stuff works so maybe then I won't have to upload all these trooper skins.

I never thought I'd see the day when someone actually made one of the character models for NW. :)

You shouldn't have to upload the trooper skins at all, just the new model and the skin for the Santa hat on a separate surface. Then I'll link to the trooper skins in the main HRP from the defs.

BTW, the... pom-pom needs to be lower, more folded over. Like this:

Has the white font been removed ? Now when I run NW+ I have the normal red HRP font.
Also, in DP, the super trooper says "Duke ! You made it ! You saved Christmas !" whenever I hit him. At first, I was like "WTF ?". :) But I guess DT has to correct the code to get rid of this and I heard he wasn't interested anymore by this mod. :P

Anyway I can't wait to see the christmas liztroopers ! :D

Edit: oops, didn't pay attention to the last post date... :)

It's OK to bump this thread.

The white font was disabled because I didn't want it to override SwissCM's better v1.3D version. I asked him to make a winter version for NW like his green for DC and orange for Caribbean but it has not happened.

When I added DP support over a year ago there were no obvious conflicts. There really is no good solution at this time for solving conflicts like this besides a wild goose chase of reactionary fixes. Muelsa's supertrooper uses conflicting sound ID numbers. The DP support is half-assed anyway because DP isn't designed to be easily extendable. I would have to do a lot of copypasting to integrate the new monsters and any new items and effects, and it would become out-of-date rather quickly.

Alright.

Btw, what happened to the christmas liztrooper ? Is it going to be included in the HRP soon ? :)
