What happened to the Gearbox vs TX thread?

Apparently it's been deleted or made private.

Did TX get pressure from Gearbox or something?

And I saw this on Twitter today:

What's going on?

I didn't get any pressure from Gearbox, I just decided I would make another attempt at working things out rather than continue with the way that thread was going. The whole situation is distressing and a little heartbreaking. The Duke3D community is very dear to me and I don't want to do anything that will fuck it up forever. The situation is what it is and I don't want to go to war with anyone if I don't absolutely have to.

I'm glad its going this way instead; that other thread was leading into what could've been really bad territory

Good on you and that is without question, the best decision for the community. I do hope everything works out, Nobody wants more drama for this franchise that is without question near and dear to our hearts and yours especially.
If things do go south, you can say to yourself that you did try to put water under the bridge.

FINALLY. If I had read one more opinion post from a "lawyer wanna be" my head would have exploded. :)

Why would I read them if they bothered me so much? I don't know.

Are you saying that from a position of knowing something more of law than the "wanna be's?"

it's more a case of the dunning kruger effect being really cringeworthy to look at.

That's very mature of you. I know I'd be tempted to continue lashing out at those whom I believed were treating me unfairly. For you to be willing to bury the hatchet in this matter shows an immense amount of character on your part. It's always easy to say "be the bigger man"....but actually doing it can be extraordinarily difficult.

You should quit the Internet if you don't want to read posts like that.

I wouldn't be pretentious to knowing the law through and through but what I personally say and said is more toward common sense laws :)

There was more speculation going on than anything. How else are we supposed to talk about it?

So far all evidence hints to 0 interest of Gearbox for this community.
It makes little difference then if we paint the CEO as an angel or demon, either will be ignored. It make little difference then if we are rational or just angry, either will be ignored.

No one knows the future, let's hope for the best and plan for the worst. Posted Image

I'm not so sure about that. Randy does have a history of not taking criticism or negativity very well. It's best just to let the sleeping dog alone and hope for a favorable outcome for Tx and the rest of voidpoint.

^ no arguments here, for Voidpoint's sake; but if this is true (and I'll take you word for it), and Mr. Pitchford can't handle a bit of ehmm, let's call it harsh jokes, why is he in the public arena then? Once you opened yourself up to the public, you are fair game, are you not?

Not to hate on him but Randy is not in the arena he has money and people in the arena for him when you deal with him I am pretty certain your not just dealing with him but also lawyers, who don't get paid unless they solve something lol. Its safe to say they can be sharks. I don't know about you but I never thought 3dr would lose Duke all together. Tx is doing the bold thing here that's what you do when you care about something dearly. I saw that tweet from Voidpoint thanks for sharing op now that is what I want to see so now if they don't want to work things out they are the bad guys not vice versa.

What is the difference between a youtube guy hating on gearbox and Randy from us doing it you may ask? Just think about it are those youtube people here on this site? Can they live a day without Duke? the answer is most likely yes. Here is to hoping things can (for once) go a good way for Duke.

TerminX is going to get screwed.. either way. Lawyers look for any situation where people try to do the right thing, so they can exploit it. Their job is "to win", not do what is best for anyone. Whatever makes them the most money. While there are a few exceptions of course, as a whole, they are mostly holes... so to speak.
There is a reason for the saying "99% of lawyers make the other 1% look bad." I deal with several every week... for over a decade.

Gearbox won't get anything by screwing TX. At this point they probably realized that making a PC port of Duke 3D is ten times more difficult than they thought, and that it's not worth to make their own Android port. So I hope they settle things.

Dude... the fact that either of these threads ever had to exist in the first place means I've already been screwed.

Just tally up the cost of development and sell it to him outright with an option to get paid for future updates and maintenance.
Also get a consulting contract for their new duke3d port.

Just get paid. Especially since you have a wife with medical issues. She needs to be comfortable.

Randy may have lost touch with what it's like to struggle to make ends meet now that he has millions and lives in a mansion in the sky, but if he has a shred of empathy he'll cut you a fair deal.

old thread full of slander and insults due to emotional distaste of how a certain situation went down. As long as this one stays "civil" it will probably continue; otherwise I'm guessing it will "disappear" as well if it gets out of hand again.

When you're trying to negotiate with someone on "friendly" terms, it's not a good tactic to have an open portfolio full of negativity.

^ how about then listing all traits that show that TerminX is a well respected, valuable asset to anyone claiming the rights to the Duke Nukem IP?

Sample:
TerminX was the first genius to publish a successful port of the Build Editor, and stuck with it until today
https://web.archive....onversions.com/
It shows leadership, genius and stamina; an asset for any corporation.
