I completed the original episodes last week (yeah, for the very first time), and now it's time to play the expansion packs - Wanton Destruction and Twin Dragon. Which one is better? I want to reserve the better one for the grand finale. :)

Wanton Destruction is the better expansion, although some of the later Twin Dragon levels are quite good (Crazy Train, Fishing Village)
Are you playing a source port? Twin Dragon has issues with mines not showing up until they're triggered on the Polymost renderer.

I'm playing Redux. Is this mines is a real issue?

Redux uses the Polymost renderer so yes. This was one of the things I brought up to ICD in regards to his port before he disappeared.

Shadow Warrior is one of the greats, well done on finally playing through it. I've never played much of the add-ons, only played a couple levels. A question, looking at the wiki for Wonton Destruction I see Charlie Weiderhold released 4 maps that he made for it in 2004, but looking at the levels list for the wiki it looks like he only did levels 6 and 10 in the final release? So I guess there's two more levels out there in another file you can get, unless I missed something there on the wiki.

The other two levels are deathmatch levels

Yes, Wanton Destruction is a bit better. I especially love the second Level, "The Monastery"... I would even say this level is better than those from the main game.

Me too, the Monastery is a fantastic level. Probably in my top five Build game levels, definitively in top ten.

Hehe, maybe making a topic for the "top 10 build game levels" would be a great idea ? Off the top of my head, I'd probably mention: Hollywood Holocaust (DN3D), Death Row (DN3D), Hotel Hell (DN3D), Freeway (DN3D), Cradle to the Grave (Blood), The Overlooked hotel (Blood), The Haunting (Blood), The Siege (Blood), The Monastery (Wanton Destruction), ....

Damn, so many great levels in these Build games :)

Of the original game's levels, I'm quite fond of the bath house, auto maul, great escape, floating fortress and water torture (although bath house and floating fortress are not without their annoying moments)

My least favourite level would be Redwood Forest in WD.

Too bad that modern Shadow Warrior port doesn't look like it will ever be finished, though. :)

Finished Twin Dragon.
Overall, I liked. Even though it was considered somewhat lesser of the two expansions, the levels themselves is very fun to play! The only maps that I didn't like (in terms of designs, that is) is levels 4 and 5, Hide & Seek and Warehouse. Otherwise it was a great addon, even though it was made by some obscure weirdos.

At least Wylde Productions/Level Infinity provided specific credits of which level designers did what levels.

Finding who made what levels on WD required a lot more digging...

Weren't the maps signed in WD? It's been a while since I looked at them.

SW Wiki gives details about each level, including who made it.

Yes, as it happens I added that info :)

Some maps have signatures, others are featured at their designers websites (Cho Yan "Tempest" Wong mentions Trolley Yard and Auto Factory on his)

I actually like Redwood Forest. The fog effect was used best in the level. From the game, the shareware levels + Bath House + Floating Fortress and Water Torture are my favourites. From Wanton, I don't know, probably Wieder's levels, like the airplane one and the bossy one. And Redwood...

I just started playing Shadow Warrior for the first time. I am playing on the second difficulty and I keep getting killed by Ninjas with UZIs, is the game suppose to be so hard?

Just don't spend too much time in their line of sight.
It also helps to know how to time your katana slices efficiently.

Expect them to throw grenades and missiles at ya later on, that will be hard.

I placed the LastWar.grp file and the LastWar.bat file in the main folder (Shadow Warrior Classic Redux).
Then I changed the .bat file to read:
@echo off
swcr.exe -gLastwar.grp

Double Click on the revised bat file, and start a new game as you normally would, except now, it will use the Lastwar grp file.

For the very stupid, please:

Is there a way to start the Wanton Destruction addon via a bat file directly from a desktop shortcut (Redux, GoG-Version) or so?

If yes, how?

Thanks in advance for the kind responses.

I've not tested it but I don't see why it wouldn't work the same for the GOG version http://steamcommunit...924952262125316

Edit: After testing, it doesn't seem to work with the GOG version

:excl:

I already had tried what you posted.

But when I add the "//-addon1" to the shortcut, Steam freezes for me. :D
EDIT: I tried with and without spaces.
PS: It had worked once and then never again (even after reinstalling the Steam Version).
