This. It feels like that Goodwill store and the other building is still haunted by the ghosts of Apogee/3D Realms.

Wow, to think George Broussard used to shit in this very toilet.

Sarcasm aside, neat video. It's weird thinking about how long it's been since 3DR went under, and DNF came out, and seeing the footage from that goodwill really exemplifies it.

The second building you visited looks like The Birth´s Duke burger. I sense some inspiration there.

It's a depressing story indeed.
I still remember how hard it was believing that 3D Realms would shut down. The company we all grew up with. Admired.

But rest assured. They're coming back with full force.

3D Realms is alive and well, with many of the old-timers still on board.
And let me know when you want to visit the new 3D Realms offices :)

Massive Nuke symbol in the lobby or fuck off.

Don't care if you have Duke rights or not. 3D Realms shutting down was one thing, but the destruction of that symbol was heartbreaking.

I completely agree. That was tragic :)

The best part of Yatta's visit was showing off all the tasty places to eat around Austin.

The comment by the 3DR youtube channel makes me think that it would be worthwhile to refer the title to original 3DR or DNF offices. I can understand how some of my comments in the video can be annoying when trying to re-establish the brand.

I'd actually love to see the new offices. What city are they in?

Good point. I changed the title to add in "original."

Yatta - The new offices are in Aalborg, Denmark.
Scott comes by and works with us regularly. Great place!

I'll send over some photos when we do the re-launch. :)

By watching Yatta's tour of those two buildings. I'm gonna re-watch Machinima's All Your History: Apogee and 3D Realms. Has anyone seen it?

Apogee and 3D Realms Part 1: The Economics of Sharing
Apogee and 3D Realms Part 2: Egos and ids
Apogee and 3D Realms Part 3: A King Named Duke
Apogee and 3D Realms Part 4: The Magnitude of the Ineptitude

It was almost eerie seeing that thrift store now occupying the location where so much unseen magic and badassery took once place. Depressing, as some have already commented, but everything happens for a reason and sometimes we just have to let go.

And a very fitting and uplifting quote at the end.

Well done, Yatta.

So Fred. I just moved to Aalborg to study. I just found out I live 3 Km away from your office or so. I am one of the regulars in the rott chat aswell. Would be nice to be able to give the Guys a tour in your office? :) Would be cool if Scott was there aswell!

Strange to see it as a Goodwill store now.

Does Goodwill sell video games? It'd be funny to find some Apogee/3DR games in there.

I always wondered how to office looked like. You would only see some photos from parts of Joe's office and other random pics, not a complete view.
So thanks for the tour, even if it's now a goodwill store.

And I wouldn't mind visiting Denmark, always wanted to go there anyway.

Is Lee Jackson gonna participate in this thread? I would like to hear his memories of Apogee/3D Realms. I know he signed up awhile ago.

EDIT: It was me that invited Mr. Jackson to the duke4 forums. :)
