The issue is that the mouse sensitivity is broken no matter what setting it's set on.
You can put it on the lowest setting and then randomly in game it will act like you have it on the highest setting.

Maybe it's just me because I've been playing EDuke32 again, but it seems like the controls aren't the same in this final version as they were in previous versions. I just checked. They could've played around with them, but I don't know.

I'm curious, is it illegal to distribute the source port, and I mean JUST the port, not the GRP files\addons? Seeing as how it has to be open source anyway?

Probably not, because their engine is based on JFDuke3D

I suppose it is if you compile the source code on your own and doesn't include any of the assets.

...and integration of additional Duke Nukem 3D expansion packs.

Wat? All that's left is unreleasable dogshit garbage like Duke Xtreme and Duke!ZONE.

I just bought it, and looked at Duke's vaction. The menus are sleek and really polished, and the music has been resampled. As said, it's running on Polymost and you can't change to Classic mode. You can slap Eduke32 into the root directory though. It's worth picking up if only to actually own the add-ons, but all the extras are nice as well. I hope this does well so that Jayce Hall (sp?) can point to it as an example that there's still a market for old Build games so whoever has the lock on the Blood source will reconsider and let him release it.

I don't want Jace Hall ever touching Blood unless he abandons his shitty ideas for it.
What do you mean the music has been resampled? I mean, they were midis... there's nothing to 'resample.'

... And I have to agree. Why in the frick would you release this without the multiplayer? That's arguably one of the biggest draws to a port like this.

I wouldn't be surprised if you never saw multiplayer. It's obviously gonna be a bitch to stitch together, hence why it's not in EDuke32 yet.

First of all I would like to say thank you to whole duke4.net community and specially to Lunick, Green, NUKEMDAVE, Yatta, TerminX for supporting us.

Second, please don't blame Lunick, NUKEMDAVE or somebody else for Duke+ bugs/issues. They volunteer themselves to help us with testing and their feedback was extremely helpful. You can blame us, we (General Arcade) are responsible for issues and we are gonna work hard to fix them. Please keep posting issue, concerns, advices and feature requests in this thread. I'm always reading Duke+ related threads, but not always have a time to reply. Thanks.

You want an issue? It crashes for me as soon as the Nuke clip at the start finishes Posted Image

windows 7 64 bit, nvidia 9800GT, intel motherboard, Duke 3D+ with openGL
log doesn't say anything remotely useful

Apparently a couple of files failed to verify. So it's all better now.

No offence, but besides the mouse controlled menus I prefer eduke32 Posted Image

Since the game comes with all the addons, I was just wondering if they are all unaltered from their original GRP's?

Hendricks was helping me (I was helping him actually <.<) analyse the files earlier. Duke3d.grp and the Nuclear Winter grp was unaltered but Caribbean and Vacation have altered grp files. It should be noted though that DC didn't come as a grp file to being with anyway.

It's attached to Steam, you wouldn't be able to run it without Steam itself and if you did have it, it would tell you to buy the game

... Quick kick is in the game and I'm pretty sure that is Mike Norvak's music.

Then what does the source code actually do if you'd need Steam to run it? I don't need the addons and I'm not paying for a source port especially in its infancy and after what I've already heard. And there's no Linux support yet. The only point to buying the thing is for the addons or if you don't have the game.

The source code should have no traces of the steam code in it once it is distributed.

Can you update Duke's Sprite to make it look how Duke looks on the Cover art?

From what I'm informed for the classic game they included the DOSBox 0.72 instead of the latest 0.74. Is this true ?

I can't remember, was it about multiplayer?

Captain Awesome said:

Sorry, wrong choice of words. The music is in MP3 and is redone, sorta like that man who re-did all of Duke's soundtrack a few years back.

While I think there are flaws that have been brought up, I don't think comparing it to Eduke32 (which is a project spanning over a decade) is fair. This port is gonna be aimed at people who haven't got Duke or who want a Steam version of it. At the end of the day all of us here already own the game, so spending extra money on a different version with a source port is just something we do as hardcore fans.

Ultimately you can also buy this and then drop Eduke32 into it's root directory and use it that way, so there shouldn't be a 'It's this or Eduke' mentality. See this as a way to get more people playing Duke, and possibly checking out our projects (which is always good news)

ALRIGHT, here goes my feature requests. I will tell you what I hope to see from online player perspective.I do not have megaton release yet and im
not planing to buy it before multiplayer release, also im not exactly sure what are current issues.
I do remember playing jonof port on DukesterX years ago for short period of time and don't recall serious problems using it just sticked with xduke which was more popular back then.

So here we go :
1. p2p connection is disapointing so if you guys already started working on multiplayer better it would be client/server otherwise is waste of our time
2. first thing before i go online is turning off music and ambient sound,so im confused reading some stuff about 'lacks separate volume bars for sfx and music'
3. mouse axis, mouse held, toggle on/off it's standard and should be already there
4. from hduke port i like TeamDukeMatch mode and inventory status bar, from eduke the thing when you point your crosshair on other player it will show his name
5. pause and rewind demo file, respawn timer ...those were kinda the only things i liked in xbox duke
6. http://forums.duke4....386#entry134386
7. support for gamepads and joystick

A proactive stance like this is the best one.

I just implemented the following feature into EDuke32:

Quote

r3581 | hendricks266 | 2013-03-21 04:48:21 -0500 (Thu, 21 Mar 2013) | 1 line

Windows: Add the default installation paths for the GOG.com release of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition and the Steam release of Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition (if they exist) to EDuke32's search path.

This means that users can extract an EDuke32 build to an empty folder and run it. It should detect and use the Megaton data (including the new fonts*) without any further manual installation.

In addition I have updated my installation scripts for the three add-ons to detect the Megaton data and use it during the setup process.

If nothing less, the Megaton Edition is a convenient way for fans, old and new, to add Duke Nukem 3D and the three expansion packs to their collection. And I'll salute General Arcade for that.

*Some of the Megaton textures (such as the loading screen/main menu background and the status bar) appear stretched or squished in EDuke32. This is because these particular Megaton assets do not match the dimensions of the original art tiles and the Megaton port was modified to treat these tiles as special cases. (Thanks to Lunick for testing.)

Okay, I have reported the issues and I got a reply from a developer:

"Will add usermaps loading from menu later and I think quick save too." -TermiT

Don't know what they're going to do with the other issues...

Regarding the highres status bar, I think the one from our own community HRP looks way better. Other than that, I am still curious about the changes, even though I expect them to be very minor.

More interesting is rather the announcement in the Steam description that more expansions are supposed to be added later. I am wondering which ones they mean since the "official" ones are already included. Will they make new missions or select user-made episodes/maps?
