Duke's Back!  "Let's just get it done"

Not really, I'm under the impression that space levels generally aren't as popular as Earth-based levels. I'm guessing this is because space levels can be a bit dull and after a while they get repetitive and all start to look the same. Not to mention people are more familiar with Earth locations so they get a bigger buzz by killing aliens in them

So yeah if you feel you don't really want to do them for any reason, don't lose sleep over not including space levels, the game will do fine without them.

I'm setting up a project that could be something or nothing. It could be the number one in its domain and make millions umpteen times over, or fizzle out like a sparkler in the rain. Regardless of scope and potential I've generally found that getting all the showstopper questions dealt with before green lighting something it is a good idea.

So what mods or other projects have you worked on in the past?

Heh. That old one. And the people who parade a list of projects have what to say? I don't care who you are or what you've done. If what you've got to say doesn't make the cut it doesn't make the cut. Dude, I've invented technologies and talk shit you whine about until some magazine prints a headline you can parrot five years later. A mod? Haha. Ha. Ha haha. That's like asking Sterling Moss if he's ridden a skateboard. You honestly don't have a clue.

Why would anyone want to work on a project with you if you can't even answer a simple question about which projects you have worked on in the past without going into a bizarre defensive rant?

I wouldn't even try to communicate with the idiot.
As everyone knows on this forum he is a basement dweller and spends all his time trolling forums.

The only thing he has going for him is the idiot/moron of the year award.

@Justyce: Question? Would it really be so bad if I skipped adding the typically 'space station' levels?

You could have Duke teleport to a space environment during a normal level for a moment or so where he might have to take care of something, and then return. That way it won't be just another space level at all, and you can do it from time to time without it getting old and boring. That's if it's actually relevent at all with the story. Just a thought.

I see this coming soon......

That's what we're all wondering about, but when CS doesn't get that he just doesn't get it.

Who the hell are some of you people to make demands or dismiss unspecified comment as a "bizarre rant"? WTF? I'm not that interested in your projects and some of the stuff I was willing to spill never got chased up when it was on offer. D'ya know what, Sangman? Like Justyce, I just think your ego can't take it. That's what your deliberate ignoring of stuff or more recent trolling has been about. That's just greed or passive-anger idiocy. Yeah, whatever.

For being an inventor of technologies and a gaming industry know-it-all, you have a very poor grasp of rhetoric. Let's break down the various parts of your post that are rhetorically flawed. The first sentence is a self-referential appeal to authority, which falls flat on its face since you have no prior stated examples of productivity or even experience in the computer gaming field beyond that of hearsay. The second sentence is yet more hearsay, which we have received plenty of in the prior posts, and qualifies as an attempted proof by assertion or "argumentum ad nauseam." You follow this up in the rest of this post with ad hominem (ironically, an ad hominem tu quoque, or what Freud refers to as projection).

Now, unfortunately, you cannot produce any form of evidence to back up or support your own position that you in fact worked on projects or inventions of high accords, because 1. you don't have any, and 2. even if you do, your reputation on this forum is so negative, and your own stances towards 3D Realms are so vitriolic, that it is unlikely any person on here would regard your evidence or proof with any credence. Simply put, you are a proverbial punching bag, with snobbery added in for good measure to even further vilify yourself. Perhaps this is a stealth parody on your part - I do notice that you have a mask as your avatar, and no personal information in your profile to trace you. Its effectiveness is questionable, if so.

Based on everything you have said on this forum up to this point, and even factoring in all of the good posts that you have made, you are narcissistic, a habitual liar, you lack knowledge of America's legal system, and you're most likely a con artist. In fact, if this were not an anonymous setting, you might be considered a criminal. Is that really the image that a potential client wants to see when looking for an innovator?

Sorry dude but your rants have really gone too far, you have gone from voicing your differing opinion to down right mean.

Okay, I know it's off-topic. But am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with CultureShock? Honestly?

Oh well...

He will just end up getting the same treatment as he did on 3DR, not any of our loss if he is an ass that can't talk like a normal person.

Depending on how this thread continues - since it has now become a mud slinging jab or words with (never mind, not going there). If we can get back on topic and cool things down, then farg it.

Those that PM'd me, I will update you that way.

CultureShock: I and most others have already explained plenty of times what our problem with you is, it's nothing more or nothing less than that. Now either you can cut the crap and actually answer DT's question or you can keep this thing going in circles (receive "the question" => go off on a rant => someone asks it again => set up strawman argument => receive question again => etc...)..

If it's the second I think I'll leave asking the question to someone else, but don't expect to be taken seriously by almost anyone on this board if you never back up your claims..

I just find it interesting that Justyce (who thinks EDuke is shit) and Sangman (who said Justyce project had no chance) have joined together to mouth off total bollocks and agitate flamewars. The only common factor is I royally showed both up and their egos couldn't take it. What a pair of useless cowards. Pathetic!

Does the term "Let sleeping dogs lie" mean anything to you?

Last time I looked I only told him the truth, but if you actually have some solid evidence to prove me wrong by telling us these projects and all this other good shit you proclaim then be my guest and tell us.

Other wise take your comedy act to PM.

Just because I feel Justyce's project has little chance of success (still do) doesn't mean I have any personal issues with him. Even so I'm definitely not forming a coalition of "bring down CultureShock". I've already stated my problem with you, there's no point in doing it again because you constantly keep circumventing the issue. Have a nice day.

edit: Well it seems there was somewhat of an answer in the previous post.. No, nobody here (at least I don't think so) thinks mods are a gold standard. What's also definitely not a gold standard are people who are all "I invented this and this and this" without backing it up. ;) But of course you're gonna reply to this with something like "You're just trying to start a flamewar, you tried to play with the big boys and failed so now your ego is looking for a way out" or some other shite but that doesn't really interest me so might wanna save that for someone else.

Gold, as in the mineral element, or gold as in color? Neither would fit. Great, is what the majority of users say about these mods/tc's. The fact that people can actually use them is because they have been put on the table. From idea, to WIP, to delivery. Golden are the ones who do things, great are the things they do.
It's a shame that any thread from a person only looking for help with an idea, good or bad, should be turned into a fuckshow. Not like there's many other sites to choose from, Duke4 Net should be the #1 site people would go for anything Duke, correct? Not by the looks of this, imho. Clean-up on Duke4!

"I just find it interesting that Justyce (who thinks EDuke is shit)"
Where the F! did I ever say this? Quit making S! up
do us all a favor and STFU - and let us work on this thread without you.

On another note, been trying to find this on unreal sites, maybe someone here has seen it.
I need a boat for one of the opening levels but so far found crap models.
anyone seen a good place to find 3d fishing boat models?

Perhaps BlackRayne has some boat models? Of course you can only use those in a non-commercial product (ie. a mod or a freeware game but I'm not even sure if the second is allowed).

Oh snap! ;) I figured he'd have the "I don't want to see other people get money for my work" mentality (I know I would) but guess not, then.

Trying to decide which to use for a special weapon, used for big explosion...hand held mini nuke
middle of the night 'hmm I wonder'
I don't even know if it could be added, figured I would just bounce it off the forums.
-
Nuclear Express card - "Duke doesn't leave home without one"
similar to AmEx credit card logo but mushroom clouds
or
NukeEx - "When you absolutely, positively, have to blow the shit out of something"
similar to FedEx logo
-
I like both, anyone - which is better?
