Something is going on

angelo (and others), please stop being an impatient tit. Sure it would be nice to see DNF-related material but 3DR (nor Scott, nor George) doesn't owe you anything. Guess we're gonna have to wait until this lawsuit clears up - and then a while longer!

That said when is this lawsuit business gonna end anyway? This soap opera drama has been going on for months..

This quote completely contradicts everything that Scott has said and indicated, and basically confirms that it's in total lockdown, with no progress being made due the the court case (Well at least now they have a scapegoat after all these years of doing nothing).

There are two problems with what you're saying. First, they do owe us something after all these years. Second, they can't wait until after the case because the game would likely be unsalvageable at that point. George would just use the rapid advance of game engines as a scapegoat for the loss of interest in further pursuing the project.

Ever sat on a jury?

I did this spring, and both cases were 12-14 months old before they ended up in front of a jury.

Unless this gets settled, I think DNF as we knew it is dead, as 12-14 months is forever, in terms of computer hardware/software.

Unless they're just going to put DNF out on the consoles, as console hardware hasn't changed since the shutdown/lawsuit, and may not change before the case is settled/decided.

A valid point if what AgentScotty's saying is correct (probably is). Soooo I guess basically DNF is fucked, then.

Well, we still pretty much ended up right where we started, except in a way our current position is worse because now we can no longer hope for a DNF related announcement or video soon based on the disheartening statements made by George during this mess. George won't even assure the fans that he plans to release the game someday. He won't even say those simple words.

Anyway, I hope your rabbit gets better soon.

You know what I think it's happening? Take two tried to hack 3dr in hopes of winning the case. Maybe bribed some of the former employees to start leaking more media...

Could be, but George said something about knowing who it was and is swiftly dealing with them. He seems really pissed off and I don't blame him.

!!!OPTIMISM ALERT!!!

I still can't believe people here and on 3DR forums think this game will be unmarketable/not worth playing after the court case. Crysis still has the best PC graphics around and that game is old. Anyway look at D-Day, top notch gfx there. Just wait, don't hate (because it will eat you up), and be thankful that the game is complete or very nearly. Probably xmas 2010 although my last prediction was the game will be completed in november (said this in may) and I am probably right, with Scott's facebook posts only confirming this and remember back in the day when George said wait til you see it here on the homepage (3DRs) that its done, look what happened yesterday.

Come on guys, give 3DR a break. They've made OUR game of all games and since its taken so long, they're compensating us with a lot of other Duke games soon(ish).

All this latest movement with the alleged hacking
of the 3dr site, leaked video, George showing up, Joe
showing up, the Scott Miller tease, Duke fanpage, it
seems like the perfect viral campaign. Of course it's
probably coincidence but there's the slight chance that
all this is calculated.

No, it isn't calculated. Of that you can be sure. People should take a break, we won't see DNF soon.

Unfortunately, we really don't know anything about the dates involved in the lawsuit, except when it was originally filed, and when it was removed to federal court. Most people assume the worst in terms of how long it will take to get started, which they put at 12-14 months. Now, if the start point for that countdown is May 2009 when the case was filed, it should be May-July 2010 at worst. However, I don't know how the fact that the case was removed to federal court around June/July 2009 will affect this. Basically, I think that it's safe to assume that the first 1/2 to 3/4 of 2010 will be unavailable for 3D Realms to use to push DNF forward in a meaningful way due to the lawsuit. Also, I've been assuming that the case would end instantaneously, and if it drags on for months, it's actually possible based on what we know that the case could still be unresolved in the beginning of 2011.

Don't forget that there will almost certainly be an appeals
process after the decision that will push the dates back even
further.

The best fans can hope for at this point is a settlement
before trial. Otherwise, it could take a couple years to
sort all the legalities.

I missed out on some things... What happened with the 3DR website? I remember there being some lame thing about a crappy Prey handheld title (who honestly cares about that stuff?). Was there something else I missed?

yes interesting comments for sure!

I asked Scott this: "so no end of the court battle insight, haven't you got a court date yet? I mean if Take 2 would see that DNF is as good as done, they would be stupid to still sue you!

You can count on us fans! We never will give up!
3DR fans are 3DR fans FOREVER!!!"

what do you think?

The lawsuit is real. 01-01-2010, 10:09 PM

"I have some more shots of fully textured ingame models, but they're starting to look pretty dated (they were made 3-5 years ago). Also, 3DR is still getting sued by Take Two, so I'm not sure about what can be shown."

Maybe its a hint that microsoft have jumped to the rescue with team members and development. Wild conspiracy theory.

when he is dying to release something, doesn't that mean there is something that hinders him to do so?

PS: there is definitely progress right now....we won't be dissapointed again....the game is on its way! ;)

we just need to have a little bit more patience...and thats easy for a 3DR fan. :P

Why do you guys always assume that anything said by anyone related to 3DR is talking about DNF? They have several other IPs still and lately Miller has been working with Apogee and Radar almost exclusively. I would bet money, what little I have, that this is either about a console release or some other IP.
