Climb the Corporate Tower

Thought it would be fun to have a big Tower you play through shooting stuff floor by floor.

This is probably the last Duke3D map I'm going to make for a while. Probably going to go back to Half Life maps until Ion Maiden comes out.

Just thought I'd make a thread for it here.

My opinion :

[ - ]

The cars are ugly.
I do not believe that such large (breakable) windows are a good idea :rolleyes:
The importation of trees and bushes is poorly managed (colors poorly suited to Duke's palette).
You should rename your map "Toilets" ... because it has many restrooms! :wub: :) :D ;)

[ + ]

I like the sprite of the dead man on a chair.
The poster with the monkey :lol:
Cool thing, the secret button-hand (its effects). But disable the block mode ( B ) fot this handswitch; otherwise Duke climb on it when approaching. :D
I like the floor accessible by the yellow key B) Cool places, and ... moneeeeeeeeeeeey :lol:

Nice job, for someone who starts ^ ^ I felt that some parts o the level are copied, and others original. Pay attention to the ratio of sizes (doors, objects, ...), it must be consistent with the size of Duke. And also watch that the shadows are homogeneous (exp: dark floor but clear walls ... illogical!) ;)

Its good, though I did have a hard time beating it, don't know if it was the level or me but ammo was scarce in my playthrough.

Though the main problems I can think of is some structures and specially doors being too big, the other problem was the lighting, while i think it was good, in some places It wasn't coherent.

As for gameplay, I enjoyed it, but like I said, don't know if it was me or the level but I did have a hard time finding ammo, so it made it a little bit difficult.

In any case, Its a fun map, although be it a little bit difficult, specially on Come Get Some.

And of course I having played it over and over again found it too easy and kept trying to make it harder :rolleyes:

I'm hoping I can get some money for a Drawing tablet for Christmas. Then I can make some REALLY good sprites.

Fun map, got a real old-school vibe. Liked the use of new art, especially the custom scripted sprites. Visually the map was a bit simple, but made up for it with fun gameplay, fast pace and variety. Found it a bit easy, but I played on Let's Rock so that's probably why...

A neat and well planned map (exception for the cars maybe :D), i agree that it feels oldschool.
The player wil have the impression to play a simple and linear map, but isn't like that, paths and monsters will be a surprise, whatch out or you'll be dead meat, expecially in the last part.

Imho there are enough ammo (played on Come get Some), check well which areas have been opened after "the explosions".

Possible without game saves :)

Edit: One more thing, i did put the "Climb the tower" folder inside a fresh installation folder (to avoid any possible conflict), but i could not get the new arts like above Posted Image.

You need to select the Climb the tower folder in the Custom game content directory
This map uses some minor scripting and the art files won't load if you don't do this
Sorry for not getting bad in a timely fashion :D :)
