Jimmy, you're a complete and total idiot. Now although I am opposed to that kind of language in my forum, I'm going to allow it, as unfortunately it is part of your right to free speech. So you may proceed, but please, I want to remind you that this is not a carnival. You have permission to smoke and swear.

So, you got arrested, and, with your one phone call, instead of calling your lawyer, you decided to call us all cocksuckers?

I don't know what to say. I don't think 'thank you' is really appropriate. A bit stalkery, but impressive anyway.

The Orville is actually quite a lot like Star Trek. In that it tries to tell moral lessons without taking a "right" side. Gets you thinking about things from another perspective. Like "Here's an age-old dilemma you know well. But what about in this scenario with this twist to it? I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but just think about it." This is exactly what Star Trek did (especially TOS). It just also happens to have a whole whack load of Macfarlane humour in it. I guess to bring it "up to date". I think it works. I like it. My wife and I have been following it since the beginning. We both also love Family Guy, though, so the humour doesn't bother us. It kind of brings it down to earth a bit and makes it somewhat more relatable? But it's also very serious and dramatic when it needs to be and man does it work. It's actually kind of remarkable how they managed that. Normally when I see shows try to juggle silliness and a bit of camp with seriousness and drama it comes off as tacky and fails horribly. But not Orville. At least not for us.

I honestly hoped that you, of all people on this forum would either have a decent sense of humour, or at least be able to supply a snappy come-back. Sigh. I thought we had something special (heartbreak.gif).

He was literally pulling a Ricky. (And pretty much directly quoting him)

Was a very obvious (and rather funny) joke given the situation.

Good lord we got some thick heads around here.

I enjoyed B&D, started with that but it took some time to get up to speed on S1 and only by S2 it really started to pick off more.
Only by S3 it kind of got the "golden age" formula that it's known for.

Overall, B&D is quite a good recap that can keep you going since the show itself does feature a very slow buildup that can be challenging to be interested in (with nice payoffs in the end.)
The show is more and more about the fleshed characters and subtle humor that only comes alive when you understand the chemistry more, before that it's hard to figure out as it might feel very "normal" or chaotic banter.
If you stick around, it will reward you with some very fun antics and the whole "trailer park life" has a very Flintstones feeling on everyday commodities.
After a few seasons in, you kinda learn to love it as a family and any setbacks can be quite crushing, that's something that I keep coming back to.
It doesn't work at all as a stand-alone thing, but it does require an investment before it can do it's magic.

But the show is not for everyone, if you don't find anything enjoyable on that movie then it's not for you. Plain and simple. :)

Trailer Park Boys definitely is one of those shows where once you follow the characters around for a while, you get to understand them and become invested in what's going on. Good analogy.

After seeing the posts and the initial looks and interaction of the characters I was expecting way more zany or in your face humor. Something along the lines of Supertrooper. No such luck. It evidently appeals to enough people to make it past it's first season. Its just too laid back for me.

My favourite part of the show is that Julian literally never spills a single drop of his drink no matter what happens.

I knew it would happen eventually. I watch the Bubbles and Conky vid and right at the very end I found something worth a smile.
When Conky looked straight at Bubbles and said "You just remember who calls the shots here." :)

There's a new Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series coming to Netflix on March 31. Is anyone gonna watch it? How's Mr Lahey alive in the animated series when the actor who played him passed away some time ago?

The end of the last season of TPB turned into a cartoon with Lahey still in it so this was the direction they were going to go before he died.
I'm assuming his screentime in the cartoon though will be much more limited and likely using old soundclips; I'm guessing he gets kidnapped by that shit hawk and is written out for several episodes.

Also, I doubt they would kill off his character just because he actually died. They'll likely give him a good sendoff.
