You're a good man Sledgehammer. But be aware that Japan's biggest problem right now, much more than ideology, is its population dying out. Make sure you have 10 kids one day.

That's definitely arguable, but isn't something I really care to argue over right now. I'm not blaming the US for anything, just saying that you're hugely influential. A lot of our own philosophers were never as big over here until people in 'murica started talking about them. When it comes to empires, though, I'd rather it be you guys than Russia or China.

@Sledgehammer - Thanks for the explanation. Do you fit in Japan well? I've only met one person from there and it was this very short, very strange guy who was obsessed with anime. I'm not insinuating everyone there is a stereotype, but I can hardly find any Japanese person who even speaks English as well as you do. Just wondering how you got this way, lol.

Like-wise, man. I would gladly meet many of you guys in person.

But anyway, it's bullshit that is being spread by the usual types in the media (the point is to promote illegal immigration, the ones that America with Europe is suffering from). I'd say that the country is rather too populated and there is not enough space, the land is just expensive as fuck and it's more convenient to live in apartments which I hate, I want an actual house in suburban area. I mean, the size of Japan lands is smaller than UK and the population is bigger than UK and France combined at the moment, can you really say that it's a problem? My biggest concern is the future of youth and thus the future of country. I hope the people will put resistance and protect the country with culture if something bad happens. The culture already suffered from some of American influence.

But yeah, family is important.

That's a weird question. I mean, I fit well?

Otakus are considered weirdos (the people who are obsessed with anime), average Japanese is pretty much almost like average people from other countries, except more polite maybe, depends to whom you compare. As for how I know English language, it's simple, I learned it by myself (using the internet and Google translator) and with a help of additional English class, this is the only way you can learn the language well and I don't mind. In Japan there is really no reason to know English unless you care about other countries because the country has its own culture and people have their identity.

I learned it well around 2010 or so because I was very interested in Europe and America, entertainment stuff like cinema and games started it all, then I found foreign people on YouTube, used Google translate to communicate with them and then I came to other places like this. I know some other languages though, but not as well as I used to because I lost contact with many of my friends from other countries.

I know a bunch of people who know the langauge myself, but there aren't many, it's true.

I'd say Japan to a non-asian outsider appears weirder than it probably is. You hear about the shame culture, overworked salarymen passed out in subways and in streets, "the suicide forest", hikikomoris, anime that heavily features idealized white people, the weird sex stuff, game shows that revel in humiliating their participants. Kids seem to be really pushed to excel in school (part of the hikikomori phenomenon), the asian parent trope, etc. Women are far more submissive than almost anywhere else, so they are fetishized by Western rejects. Just some things I've noticed over the years, but I've never lived there, so I don't know how significant any of it is.

Have you ever heard of this book? https://en.wikipedia...aphy_of_Thought

"East Asians, as well as most people outside the West, however, 'view societies not as aggregates of individuals but as molecules, or organisms. As a consequence, there is little or no conception of rights that inhere in the individual,' and in particular, '[f]or the Chinese, any conception of rights is based on a part-whole as opposed to a one-many conception of society' "

This is why I asked if you fit in well, because there's almost nothing in your writing that would indicate to me East Asian origin. I hope that's not an offense.

Stereotype.

There are people who tend to rest in subways in other countries too. That overworking stereotype is also a myth (although it was a thing long time ago), but it's worth noting that even average American people actually work much more than Japanese people, Japan has a lot of holidays too. The youth actually despise this overworking mindset (despite it being a relic of the past) and want to have even more free time. :D

"the suicide forest"

At some point Japan had high suicide rate (due to depression), but it never really was higher compared to some other countries. I think no one would beat Sweden in that regard (this country is seriously fucked up beyond repair). Nowadays it's fine.

hikikomoris

Was a thing, but not as huge as the media tried it to make. The problem was caused by certain anime works that were made by anti-Japanese media like NHK, for example. Some of this shit is really sick and can fuck up anyone outside of Japan. There are various types of anime and there is anime created by left-wingers too which is really terrible. But that's the thing, as I said, otakus are considered weirdos and are treated as such, it's not a normal thing to watch anime unless it's mainstream shit like Naruto or One Peace, for example.

Anime in general has attractive people usually, at some point some American cartoons had it too, just like Hollywood movies or video games. There is nothing wrong about it, any kind of beauty should be promoted, especially in fiction.

the weird sex stuff

The West is full of weird sex stuff and various types of deviancy (not just America but also Europe). There is degenerate shit in Japan like everywhere else, but at least there is good vanilla stuff too (usually in Visual Novels or games). Porn industry is controlled by the mafia (that mostly consist from zainichi Koreans and Chinese criminals), by the way.

There is such thing in some western shows too. But it's all humor anyway, nobody really treat this shit seriously, there is no such thing as hurting someone else's feefees. Hell, even guys dressing as girls is considered humorous. This shit obviously would not fly in USA because it would offend trannies.

Not sure what you mean by that, but education system while has no leftists propaganda bullshit, is almost the same as in many countries with traditional education. They actually do teach you valuable things in Japan and treat kids the way they should be treated, not like special snowflakes which is a good thing because such treatment would spoil them, though educational system is not perfect in my opinion and a lot of things I know I learned rather myself.

Parents are also traditional and trying not to spoil their kids.

It's not called "submissive" which is actually insulting. Japanese women are mostly traditional women and disease like "feminism" is rather foreign to Japan, but there are exceptions of course (the ones that leech men and are after money, there is more of this kind in China and Korea). This is the biggest reason why a lot of westerners are chasing after them, they're afraid feminist women and think traditional conservative women do not exist in their country which is utter bullshit, or more likely they just seek the easiest way to get women and in that regard Japanese women are quite naive. People don't understand what the fuck happens in the West due to lack of English language knowledge. Ironically, there are also women who too seek traditional men in Japan while some are of course also after money and Japanese men are also quite traditional.

One thing worth noting is that there are some parasite mercantile Japanese women and even more Korean and Chinese women that are actually aware of how things work in the West and they tend to exploit the fools that are getting baited by those women. They usually leech from those western males by suing them or sometimes they don't divorce at all.

I haven't, but I have experience talking with people and observing the cultures or mentality of other countries and I read various kind of literature from various countries too. The thing you described or rather the guy who wrote that is called collectivism, but foreign influences do try to promote individualism in Japan these days which might be harmful. "As a consequence, there is little or no conception of rights that inhere in the individual" sounds like something a communistm would say (because this is rather true for communism, but I guess it's not wrong about China which is quite fucked up country too, they don't call Chinese soulless people without a reason and collectivism there is rather bad). But anyway, the reason I said that individualism can be harmful is lack of empathy and people becoming very egoistical which is one of the biggest problem western civilization experiences at the moment. People have no empathy towards each others, they're not united at all and this is the biggest reason why western civilization was damaged.

I can't deny that my behavior was influenced by various things (in a good way), however, not only we're on the internet, we're on foreign English speaking forum too. Japanese people tend to be quite sincere on the internet or especially image boards and many people love to shitpost, it's not even bannable on most forums unlike it is on western forums. People tend to be quite sincere in real life too, but mostly with their friends, being polite is still important when you talk to strangers or people you barely know.

But anyway, to answer your question, I can fit well anywhere, I can easily adapt to mentality or culture of any country (including yours), I think I fit well even on this site. I love to learn things and do research, I always question stereotypes and other shit too (this is true for anything, really). All of this takes efforts and not many bother doing it when they travel to other countries (many Japanese people are trying their best to make good impression on foreigners if they visit other countries in general). But besides that, I (like many other Japanese people or really any people with common sense around the world) simply have deep respect to other people's countries, their culture or mentality which is why I also learned English too or a bunch of other languages. I consider it unacceptable and insulting not to do so because this is what a guest in other country should do.

But still, I do behave like Japanese in some ways even here, you're just don't noticing some of the things. The only difference is that I'm completely sincere here with the people now. For example, I was very careful and mostly preferred to watch, not to talk on Duke4 when I registered. Took me about year to write my first post, probably.

I really hate it when information is falsified. That's not from 1988. It's from 1994, Neo Tribes, page 7.

That's why I linked to it directly as he corrects himself in the following reply. The gist of the thrust into the male vagina still identifies as true.

And teshncishckly it's 1995.

I'm not gonna respond to everything you said (mostly because there's nothing to argue - your POV of your own culture is valid, even if subjective in some regards), but I do appreciate that you took the time to write it all out. So there's some research actually on the idea that East/West differences run much deeper than culture, e.g. http://scan.oxfordjo.../5/2-3/203.full

" Here, we review recent work that has demonstrated a robust cross-national correlation between the relative frequency of variants in these genes and the relative degree of individualism–collectivism in each population, suggesting that collectivism may have developed and persisted in populations with a high proportion of putative social sensitivity alleles because it was more compatible with such groups. "

I'm glad that we can both agree that China is fucked up, though. Haha. And yeah, you are right that there is a lack of empathy, but this is exactly what I've been trying to get at on the last few pages re: the left/right divide. It is probably already too late and perhaps the US or the West at large was always meant to implode due to lack of any real unity (which is partially genetic, as I've shown).

Now that the politics talk has died out. If there's actually an animated series, who do you think should voice Duke? Jon or someone new? Considering Jon's enthusiasm towards doing an animated movie, it'd only be right.

It should be Jon He is the Duke but he hast to do it a 100 percent and not pull A World Tour lazyness.

H. Jon Benjamin! His normal voice sounds a lot like Duke Nukem already and as a talented ad-libber he could come up with his own funny oneliners.

For some reason, I also cannot help but be reminded of Duke Nukem whenever I look at Coach John McGuirk from Home Movies.
