My First Map (WIP)  "Under Development"

Hey Everyone im Maisth and this is my first map im releasing on Duke3D its on WIP For now but its nearly complete here's some photos

Ill be updating the map both here and in Gamebanana

Please keep in mind these photos are Outdated, the map looks different or has changed on those areas.

Name of the map is Escape, but it could change

looks alright, very interesting choice of textures you've got going in some of those shots. One thing i'm wont to point out is that you've got a bit of a decorative inconsistency in the first pic, because there's a wallpaper tear-away with a brick underlay on one wall, but a metal puncture on the other wall despite the same texture being used for both walls. Should be one or the other, but having both looks kinda weird.

Looks surprisingly good for a first map for sure. Very much an EP4 vibe. CruX is right about the decorations though.

Yes about the decorations, those are just placeholders, the release version will have different textures on some parts

Looking very nice man. I'm in agreement with necroslut. Looks like a strong E4 vibe.

Keep in mind that i made this map thinking of a linear progress system instead of the non linear style

You can still explore some parts of the city that are available , you will find weapons or items that will help you get to the end.

Looks nice, but the sloped sector is glitching in picture number three. I hope you made backups because that is usually from a corrupted map file. It can happen if you make a sector outside another. Always make them inside each other.

I don't think its corrupted but instead graphical glitch , that thing doesn't happens to me in Polymer atleast.

I don't think it's a glitch, it does that if the sector (redline) is touching or inside other redline without connection for verticles (maybe).

Or it can be a bad line / sector.
I had that issues one.
I deleted and remake sector and was fixed.

Post a screenshot topview of the area.

Okay here it is, Just to note that problem also happens to me in the main campaign when i play on Polymost.

Looks normal from mapview.
On my last level I had an odd issues and only way to fix it was example.
Is disconnecting the shelf, structure, etc from the wall.
That giant transformer in the escaping level of my mod had some "slimetrail" and vanishing issues. was fixed when disconnected its sector from the wall and making a 1 pixel separation.
was inside TROR, maybe in your case it will work.

photoshop example of what I mean.
Also backup ur map before doing that.

How do you disconnect Vertices from the main wall?

How I do that is I make a horizontal redline in the middle of the sector near the wall.
Then the bottom touching the wall I (join sector with 'J') and merge it on the large sector around it and it "removes it"
Then get rid of the 2 verticles on the white line.
Stretch the sector you split in half into the sector like the pic.

Its been a while since i posted anything on this map, so here are all the changes

New area designed as an Airport

Storyline refined and set

More work and polish on the map overall

Added Custom Music from Postal III

Added Storyline

New Part of the Map Structure Almost Complete

Added a Two Unique Events in the Map

Added a New Part of the Map

Redesigned the Store

Added Sewers Area

Not right now, i plan to fix all the issues and bugs when the map its finally ready.

Due to time constrains because of my studies i will have to put on hold the project right now.

My studies will (hopefully) end on October - November and after that i will come stronger to finishing this map.

Is labour day today.
You do studies today?
maybe you can still work (if you can) during studies but shorter work, even if is little, is still progress.

I Will still work on it, just not as the same phase as i did before.

My studies are Free Studies which they mean i don't go to school to study. instead i stay in house and study myself and the tests are in october.
