Thanks for the clarifications, Hendricks266. I'll give the OT a good edit in view of your comments.

I have to cite one NeoGAF comment here:

Quote

Too bad they won't be able to afford a soundtrack by Iron Maiden.

Really, why not? To make the game more famous...

I dont think it would really work, I mean music with lyrics? very distracting. Worked in a game like Carmageddon 2 but dunno about an FPS like Ion Maiden. Besides I have full confidence in the music our composer is doing for us :P

Or just one piece of music created by Steve Harris directly for this game. Not necessarily a level music, just like something else, an easter egg that repeats later on again.

If it makes you feel any better, all the wall clocks in the game read 23:58.

Yeah. The computer that controls the clocks at the complex was damaged. :P

Classic and Polymost are both supported, but Polymost will be the default since performance for Classic degrades rapidly at or above 1080p, and new players may not like Classic's perspective warping.

Classic 800x600 or bust.

Isn't transparency only an issue where models are involved? This game uses none.

I had many usermaps with this glitch and no models were used (nor am I using the HRP). One that comes to mind is Adg01.

Well, Nine Inch Nails did the soundtrack for Quake and it had no lyrics.

Haha took a few moments before I got it. Great song :P

Anyway, any news on the length of the game? Similar to Duke / Blood / SW? Will it be divided in episodes? I'd love that !

We're starting with one episode, and if people buy it we'll make more. The episode has 7 "levels" planned, but each one is split into several map files that you can traverse back and forth between, like Half-Life or Hexen. Speedrunners could probably get through it fairly quickly but if you wanted to see everything, it could take days. ;)

I know what I think it's worth and what I want to sell it for, but I don't know what 3DR's views are and ultimately they end up setting the price.

If you wanted to push the interactivity aspect you could get the clocks to show the actual time easily enough. I'm sure you have other priorities both within the game and elsewhere.

I'd like to see more of the game, including gameplay before cementing my number, but the little we've seen looks super awesome and I could certainly pay something like $30. However price will likely be one of those make-or-break things, and $15-$20 might appeal to the wider gaming community more. I keep hearing about the relatively low costs involved in developing this game, which should have a big impact on profit either way.

That's the most diplomatic way of putting it I've ever heard.

I find this screenshot the most impressive so far because it clearly shows how the design ideas originating with Duke3D have been expanded upon thanks to way less stringent limitations of modern hardware (i.e. the interior is bigger and more detailed, textures and sprites are higher-res etc.), while still sticking to the same core principles. Awesome job guys! :P

that would require buying 20-year old hardware, forgetting about 20 years of advancements in art, music, computer science, etc, and selling the game only on CD-ROM or five floppies, available only by mail order and playable on MS-DOS.

Casuals.

You guys did some improvements to her design (with writing too) of course? I love punk-style a lot, would be nice if she was hot (and written good too) since she was kind of meh in original game, not memorable at all which was pointed out plenty of times anyway.

Does the maps use ROR? If so, what are you going to do with *Polymost's inability to render it properly?

My bad. Anyway, Polymost is what's used in the game.

Yeah, TROR won't work.
SE based ROR does still work however. A bit limited on how much it can be used, but at least it allows a cheap trick or two.

I wonder when they will finally show some enemies, not just dead bodies. Either they want to surprise us with some nice-looking baddies, or maybe the enemies is just not that good.

Everybody is too busy developing to create the kind of staged, fake screenshots in which you saw all sorts of enemies back in the day.

I demand staged fake screenshots during the promotional period of the game.

Too bad whoever wrote this article, thinking about the VoidPoint was who made Duke3D, which totally wrong I'm very sure... *facepalm*

(It seems only China gaming-related news sites reported this...Hank's one is from Taiwan but still the source just from Beijing SINA...and the watermark on those screenshots in that article is Ali213...an infamous cracking group and has their own website in China....nuff said.)

Still, that's good thing......or maybe not... :P
