Don't know what's causing the crash - A couple times I tried to start a new episode 2 game - selected the episode, selected the difficulty level - the game crashed straight away.

through a series of marathon playing and strategic saves I was able to finally get through the first episode - and the ending cut-scene is still all jacked up looking with a bad palette & over-pixelation

You have to play for at least 10 minutes without dying or crashing the game - then make a save. Keep doing this, and put each new save in a different slot.
If you die and it asks to load your last save - fuck that, your game will probably corrupt and any progress or saves are useless and crash-happy.
Just quit the game, exit out of it, restart, load your last save.
If it crashes shortly after loading (within a few minutes) - throw that save away and load the one prior to that until you can play for at least 10 minutes without crashing.
Wash-rinse-repeat.

Episode 2 doesn't appear to be any better - so I'll just wait for the next binary

I played through the first 4 levels, No Pain No Gain, and I encountered only 2 crashes at most, related to shadow ninja napalms and room-over-rooms/remote render portals. I had no crashes related to saving/loading.
So, I'm not really sure how you're encountering them...

The game is only supposed to allow you to use cheats if you're not on the highest difficulty. If you are on the highest difficulty, when trying to use a cheat it is supposed to say "You are to skillful to cheat!" :P

no.
i'm just playing the base binary with the proper grp file dropped in & in polymer mode.

i'm playing 'who wants wang', - so maybe it's all the additional sprites and sounds along with the odd sos polymer problems that's causing the issues

I've also noticed that when Alt-Tabbing out of the game, once I bring the game up again it seems like the contrast was increased by a lot.

I FOUND A REPRODUCIBLE CRASH!!!

Load up this save and grenade all da fishies. Arm the nuke, then go inside Leep's portrait and shortly after "All systems ready", the game will crash. And if that doesn't cause it, jump in and out of the water a few times.
(or maybe it's just a ticking time bomb, IDK :P )

Maybe you can trace this back to what's causing it?

Interesting that there is still a sprite leak happening in code, I'll look into it.

I have committed m210's bounce sprite fix.

I was recently on a website where voice actors sign up and leave 30 second samples of their work. There was a guy that sounded like he would do a great Lo Wang voice. But after looking at the general price quotes it would probably be $200-$250 for 15 or 20 one-liners. I gave it a try myself. While I can get the general tone and inflection of the voice I can't keep a consistent "texture" to it. Its lame enough that I wouldn't want to post it. :P

I have noticed a lot of people reporting bugs when playing the HRP, and during testing I noticed the HRP load times were terrible. In a effort to fix it, I re-wrote all of Ken's image load code(png, tga, etc) which were slow as hell. I did choose to use DevIL as a replacement, and I noticed about 2x speed up in load times. This code is now in the depot.

Have you tried this on the latest CL? I made some changes that might have fixed this, and I'm currently not able to repo.

I've been working on some blood splats for Shadow Warrior. There are still some things I have to work around(like the blood hanging off the chair in the screenshot) I'll have them togglable on or off in the main menu. Special thanks to Trooper Dan for letting me use the blood splat assets from Duke Plus.
