Hi,
Nice table Striker.
I take the opportunity to send the last voxels I have made a year and a half ago : The tree trunk, the column of cups and the Neon with arrows animated.

Oh, FYI if anyone is interested I am thinking about passing this project officially on to someone else to pack together. I might contribute time to time, but I've really had a lack of motivation and been too busy to work on this. If anyone is interested in basically taking control let me know.

I have little time as well... I haven`t even update the Shadow Warrior Voxel Pack in months.

By the way I did some voxels for duke too. Hope this is useful to you guys:

Great work Striker, I think that's much better than before or Gambini's which is nice but totally inaccurate to the sprite. Excellent work there by DotK3D and mxrtxn too!

These are cool, but they are in the Shadow Warrior palette... won't work nicely in software mode.

Where can I get the duke palette? Is it too late to change it to the duke?s pallette once they are finished?

P.S. in the mod only some spirtes turn into voxels but the original weapons and items don?t. Any solution for this will be appreciated :P

You can find the Duke 3D palette as PALETTE.DAT inside the DUKE3D.GRP of any version of the game, including the shareware.

I really like the look of the voxels you guys are making. It keeps to the same feel as the original game.

The engine supports normals for wall textures but not any type of voxel map.


Someone should make normal maps for all the wall textures.

I always thought that?d be a good idea, to add normals and probably speculars to original tiles. It?d be a good modern spice up to the old look, add that to shadetable-based ligthing on an optimized polymer and you have me orgasming for hours.

Sounds cool, but note that the tiles themselves need to be altered to get rid of any predefined lighting on them, as most Duke tiles have some sort of lighting (some even contain light sources). If you light up a texture which is already lit, the result would be incorrect. Ideally there should be normalmaps, displacement (depth) maps, specular (roughness) maps, glowmaps and finally diffuse color maps with uniform lighting.

This guy seems to work on some neat tools for pixelart normal maps.

I always though voxel wall textures would be cool, especially if you could blow chunks out of them if you shot the wall. But, that beyond me on how to do that.

Is there an opposite tool to strip2vox? A voxel to strip converter.
(I assume not...)

I like making voxels from image strips but find it hard to edit the top and bottom, I think I'm going to make a tool to rotate strips.

Thank you! I wonder if there are new voxels im missing. Considering I dont know where to find any voxel pack.. (no luck looking around in this thread).
