Is it just me, or are a lot of guys really quite effeminate these days though?

Well, that's boring, it doesn't bother to advertise any of the hardware, not the way to sell a computer. Plus it is on the tipping point when games started getting really dull and boring, the advertised product being one of the flagships of the bullshit world the computer games scene is today.

Besides, I'd rather have something like this;

Much more fun, especially if you bought one of the Socket 4 models, because with Socket 4 you can't help but feel like it might go barmy and murder your dog with the slightest provocation.

It was the 90s.

The wrong end of the 90s. Everything was getting better until Quake gave the industry consolitis and it never really recovered.

You're thinking of Halo. Quake is the antithesis of a console game.

Quake is just Doom with all the soul ripped out, worse levels, and slower gameplay.

So John Romero's new FPS is finally being revealed on the 25th
Any guesses as to what engine?
Unreal, Unity, something new, the original Doom engine? (He made a new level this year afterall)

Adrian Carmack is also working with Romero on the game.

I was just about to post this! Here's a link to the HOXAR, Inc. website which ties into this for those that are interested. I wonder what type of FPS it will be exactly, as the Shacknews article had a link from way back in 2012 that Romero hinted at a MMO-style design, although that may not be related in any way. I guess we will know in a few days.

That would explain why we're the ones launching probes and they're just sitting around being a bunch of layabouts. Supposedly, research suggests that Pop music actually makes you dumber and decreases creativity when compared to other genres. Example; http://mic.com/artic...ains#.yvzb4zYYI

Heh, I can believe that. This is why I only listen to good music... That and I don't like Pop anyway, aside from some 80s and 90s stuff, but I think part of that is just nostalgia or because it is so laughably bad that it's enjoyable in small doses.

as if there's something wrong with jokes for 5 year olds.

A young guy from Nebraska moves to Florida and goes to a big "everything under one roof" department store looking for a job. The Manager says, "Do you have any sales experience?" The kid says, "Yeah. I was a salesman back in Omaha." Well, the boss liked the kid and gave him the job. "You start tomorrow." I'll come down after we close and see how you did." His first day on the job was rough, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down. "How many customers bought something from you today? The kid says, "One". The boss says, "Just one? Our sales people average 20 to 30 customers a day. How much was the sale for?" The kid says, "$101,237.65 ". The boss says, "$101,237.65? What the heck did you sell?" The kid says, "First, I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fishhook. Then I sold him a larger fishhook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down the coast, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him a twin engine Boston Whaler. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Expedition." The boss said, "A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a BOAT and a TRUCK?" The kid said, "No, the guy came in here to buy Tampons for his wife, and I said, 'Dude, your weekend's shot, you should go fishing.'"

That doesn't make any sense, you uneducated peon. What a tired and overused cop-out that is, what's next? My Mom? Everything's lame?

It's amazing how with just five words, you added an immense weight to my original statement.

It's amazing how seriously you took just five words, to the point you felt the need to add twenty more. Do you never tire of your own voice?

Edit: "uneducated peon" - Thanks for getting a laugh out of me today. I'm now visualizing you as a robe-adorning Ivy League professor bloviating indignantly behind a computer desk.

What the hell are you bleating on about?

Yeah, I took it seriously enough to express my amusement at a worthless and empty statement made by an overgrown man-child on the internet. I have little else to do at the moment and it takes only a few seconds to write out a post like that.

I haven't been near an educational establishment in almost nine years and I do not plan to go anywhere near one again. I stopped living with my parents years ago and started making my own way through the world, I don't need daycare.
