Yeah, right.
It's style backlash because today's cars are all bulbous and rounded off. What's the extreme opposite of a jellybean? Why a matchbox on wheels of course.

Back in the 80's there were a billion of those sardine cans all over the road, and I thought they were ugly back then as well (having just come out of the muscle car era & import craze caused by the 'fuel-shortage crisis').

You have to admit there is something wrong about modern car design.

Does anyone here listen to Prince (the Man)?
Prince is a Man? (just kidding)
I did in the 80's and I bought some VHS Music videos available in the early 90's. I owned the Purple Vinyl 12"... album... for Purple Rain once. I think I gave it to my sister.

Why do you ask?

I don't like modern car design much, I have a thing for 90s cars, Japanese, not because I think they're the best at anything I just like them. Each to their own, a little bit of boxyness on a car can look nice but too much and they just look awkward like that Grand National.

@Reaperman is that your Grand National? It's butt ugly, looks like a coffin, a coffin filled with dog shit. :)

even the boxes I picked have some lines and curves.

several 70s imports were still decent enough to be distinguished from a rolling shoebox

I'm Ronman and I'm wearing tinfoil underpants.

I just think the car is horrible looking, that's the first time I ever saw a pic of one, it might have some sort of cult status where you are that adds to its perceived beauty (Viper seems to love it too) but not to me, the cars Forge posted above look a million times better to me. Like I said, different tastes nothing more. I have seen all sorts of cars get cult followings for different reasons some like power, some like looks, some like both, some like them for nostalgic reasons, some others are hipsters.
I fall into the nostalgia/looks category, the car I posted a pic of is the car I always wanted as 20 year old who couldn't afford it.

I give you that its not a beautiful car, but there is just something awesome about a car that had better 1/4 mile times than a corvette (at that time).

That's not really saying alot. The ford probe had better 1/4 mile times than a C4 'vette (at the time).

30 years ahead of it's time (if you like jellybean cars):

I bet that is beautiful to some people, do you ever plan on getting one?

They ran at 14.0-14.5 sec on the Quarter mile bone stock. Today people have them running faster than that.

This is my last car, Toyota Glanza. It wasn't powerful but was really fun to drive, couldn't bring myself to sell it after driving it for 7 years so I gave it to my brother.

okay. maybe I exaggerated a little (more like completely wrong, but that's what I get for listening to gear-heads and not looking the shit up myself)

Stock 1/4 times:
1987 Ford Probe 15.6
1987 Chevrolet Corvette 14.4

anyway, the '84-'90 C4 was a notoriously wimpy 'vette (and that's not a stretch of the truth). It basically went from muscle car to urban daily driver.

14.4 is slow as fuck for a 'vette

pity me, i used to drive this:

blew up the transmission in germany and couldn't get the parts in time to get it running (which is a requirement to put it on the boat to get it back to the states). Sold it to a friend of mine who was also stationed there, had an '81 z28 and wanted to rape it for parts.

now I drive this:

Sorry, I was bored. Not sure what to do with this as I can't do anything with the MPEG side and I'd like something faster than the Cirrus, so it's a stand-in until I can get a new board. It does match exactly the solder mask color for the motherboard though, which for some reason I'm fascinated by as this is something I rarely see.

yes, yes. every artard always says gremlin or pacer when thinking about AMC.
That's like only thinking of Ford in terms of a Pinto, or Pontiac as only making Fieros

I agree though older cars are so much cooler then these new car models "rounded" is a damn good word for them. Maybe the designers think it makes them look futuristic but all they really look like is crap all made in china.

Games even cheaper for me now.
A game that was priced at $29.95 USD is now $29.95 NZD... I thought that with the change the prices would have gone up but they have just stayed the same and just changed the currency used.

It won't be that way for long, I wager. I'd buy what you can now before they make the price adjustment.
