The skill of using makeup to enhance and accentuate as opposed to hide and cover are very different. My current girlfriend is a makeup artist... there is a lot to it.
The caked on makeup is a lie.
To "make up" something is to lie. Though I do understand the purpose, desire, and inevitability of it.
Makeup is no different than a bread winner prospect "making up" their career/talents. Sometimes, their "makeup" reality translates into something tangible thus making it worth it. Yes I put effort into making that gender neutral... LOVE ME!?!?!?!?!
I am putting on "makeup" when I fail to mention to The Lady that I had a margarita while waiting for my to-go breakfast tacos, despite our shared reality of this activity being a blemish.
/hug to all you makeup artists out there... even though I don't really like makeup posing as reality... especially my own. Most people see through their own makeup thus they dislike their own makeup most of all. The most free, as always, are those who genuinely love "going out" without makeup. "Going out" is another term for dying. Hmmm...
The Lady consistently mentions how much she appreciates that I'm not only cool with, but appreciate her going out without putting effort into makeup/hair/clothes... and she's right. But it's because all in all... 1) I really do appreciate her exactly as she is even when she's baffling to my perception... and 2) she's able to work with me in my own masculine versions of the same behaviors... the blemishes I attempt to pretend don't exist, but do, and am loved even when my makeup fails to cover.
Oh wait... shit... I'm "just joking"... yeah? Whatever... I'm gonna go play some Shadow of Mordor.
The corpse of Wieder has to do all my thumbs up votes because I'm gimped until like January 15th.
