Stop using Google - it's Hammertime

MC Hammer is taking on Google with his own search engine.

The rapper, best known for the two-decade old hit 'U Can't Touch This' and his over-sized 'parachute' pants, unveiled the new site, called Wiredoo, at the Web 2.0 summit on Wednesday.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin was in the audience for the demonstration, which showed off Wiredoo's "deeper type of search".

"It's not a 'competitive' attempt to recreate search, but it's much like a lot of the things we see happening today," says Hammer.

"It's like the iPhone coming out again and somebody saying, 'What's new now to make it better? You can always make things better. There's always the next version, added features."

Wiredoo is still in development, so no, you can't touch it, no matter how much you pray.

I think it's a safe bet this won't get off the ground any time soon, but thats my thought.

There's not enough room in the word for Google, Bing and Wiredoo.

Bing? What is that?

I read about this and was very confused. Didn't know MC Hammer was a technology fella.

Here's a full article about it: http://searchenginew...-Engine-WireDoo

I thought it might be a joke at first, since Commander did not include a link.

I read that article, it looks like he is re-inventing Yahoo style searches, and yes for music Yahoo is better than Google or Bing. Either way, you can never have enough good search engines.Posted Image

Same here. I especially like the extra info it gives to the right, about the link to the web page before you decide to click on it.

I use Google because I don't need little hints or extravagant GUIs to find what I need. Using context and brain skills I can find everything. I do hate, however, all this stupid new shit Google is doing to update the site. It's stupid.

I don't understand why did they hide "cache" link from general search results.

That is my biggest gripe, although i do like the preview pane.

It would be cool if you could customize the gui yourself, choose what ,you want to see or hide or where you would like to have it placed on the page.

Can you do this with igoogle or by some other means?

I know the dashboard is some what customizable, but it's the search results page I'd like to to know about.

I wonder if theres a program, or browser extension can do this....

I use Startpage often, but it's hard to break the Google habit.
