I'm surprised Joe posted that of at Gearbox seeing as it shits all over DNF, if he's not careful he might find himself in Randys magic spanking chair.

I thought the NetFlix thing was a joke at first.
WTF.

I like his idea of "The Wrestler" sort of Duke Nukem. I think that's the only real direction the series can go without being shit.
And oh man, will Duke3D Reloaded just die yet?

Yeah, a The Wrestler style Duke story could work as the poor guy has been through some shit, but I wish they not over play Dukes self awareness. For me it's a case of less is more, it's funny the limitations of the tech at the time may have forced them to make the perfect Duke. Having said that there is too much potential in the fact that most people consider Duke a relic of the past, it could lead to an interesting road to follow for a future game. But seeing as origin storys and reboots are all the rage I doubt Dukes return will be any different. Shovelware will probably try hard to restore Duke ego but I don't really see anything in their current resume that gives me hope (I don't include their Half life game as all they really did was stand on the shoulders of giants) I like Borderlands 2 but that game doesn't make you think wow these guys can actually make the next Duke game.

They did kind of try that angle in DNF with the President saying "Duke, you're a relic from a different era" or something like that. But like everything else in the game it just turned out shitty and pointless.

Especially when they'd probably use the money for the Duke budget to make Borderlands 3 instead.

I wouldn't really consider a single throw away line as "trying" especially since it came from one character, who was a shitty "ploy-villain" in the game.

Ya know, having a 69 story skyscraper, your own restaurant atop the stratosphere, a casino, a fighting arena, your own video games, action figures, arcade, a billion trophies... It all kinda doesn't fit the motif of Duke having to earn his credibility/place back.

Yeah, it'd be much better if he ended up fading into obscurity because there were no more aliens to fight and in this modern politically correct, feminine world no one cares for a macho asshole. Kind of like an overblown action hero Ira Hayes, but instead of drinking himself to death, he has to fight off an unexpected alien invasion and becomes cool again.

That would have been the perfect way to reintroduce DNF....wow.

I believe he's not working there anymore.

This direction could be approached in Gearbox's reboot, ignoring DNF. It'll probably earn back Duke's rep in the gaming world

Actually I don't care if they ignoring DNF or not, I just hope they treat their DN title more seriously, like their own IPs like BiA and Borderlands.

Whatever.

I don't care either way. I won't be buying it. I refuse to give Gearbox my money. Or even add to the number of purchases counter which pushes their games' popularity stats up by buying one of them. I don't want to do anything that helps them in any way because I don't want to see them succeed.

I like the first suggestion he gives on a Duke reboot. I say give Duke a black, leather jacket to wear with his custom nuke symbol design on the back of it. A nuke symbol with wings growing out of it or something. Maybe even give him some black, leather pants. Duke likes his bikes, so why not give him a biker look? In a badass way, of course. He wouldn't necessarily have to wear the jacket throughout the whole game. Maybe just during the beginning. His red tanktop and everything could remain intact underneath it. I think I would prefer that than giving him a futuristic look.
